AUSTIN, Texas — When the dust settled on last Saturday’s 38-7 win over San Jose State, Steve Sarkisian parked himself in front of a television at home with his son, Amayas, for the afternoon and evening slate of college football games. Sarkisian's respite came after No. 7 Texas was assessed the second-highest number of single-game penalties (12) and yards (112) in his tenure. Even while achieving a 31-point margin of victory over the Spartans, the Longhorns fell short of their championship standard. Texas struggled at times to get out of its way at the same time as No. 2 Penn State was making a 34-0 win over FIU “harder than it needed to be in a lot of areas,” c…

Wonderful "Champ" Monds update Vero Beach, Fla. - At least two Power 4 head coaches believe top 2028 quarterback prospect in the country is Wonderful "Champ" Monds IV. And that opinion covers any class from 2026 to 2028. That type of feedback from college coaches means OnTexasFootball needed to make some time to stop by the High School in old "Dodger Town" to see the 6-foot-2, 219-pounder. Monds is currently out with an ankle injury, but is expected back late in the regular season. He was injured in the season-opening win over Melbourne (Fla.) Eau Gallie High. He was 11 of 15 for 127 yards and TD when he went down around halftime. While Texas hasn'…

...it's important to have our legends, both players and coaches around the program. VY is a hero to many. The players and their parents revel in his presence. Sark is confident and self assured enough to understand why it's important to be welcoming, unlike other coaches we have had. CDC also rolls out the welcome mat to our former players. We have the best athletic administration in our history right now.

I’ve seen Sark’s record of 2-8 vs the Top 10 since 2021 get thrown around as evidence he can’t win big games. I think it’s a little misleading. We were just rebuilding/not good in 2021-2022. We did good to beat anyone those years. Sark has clearly brought us back 2023 to present. Record since 2023: 2-5. Not great, but let’s take a look at the losses. 2023- OU and Washington 2024- Georgia x2, tOSU 2025- tOSU Which of these games “should” Sark have realistically won? I’d argue OU, UGA in SEC CG and (maybe) tOSU this year. Washington in 2023 and tOSU in 2024 were just better teams (than almost everyone in the country for UW and everyone for tOSU…

New 2026 LB offer update Texas linebackers coach Johnny Nansen extended an offer to Michigan State verbal Braylon Hodge (Denver/Cherry Creek). OnTexasFootball exchanged messages with the 6-3, 215-pounder since the offer was made. Hodge tells OTF that he is working out visit details with Nansen and the staff right now. It’s likely that Hodge will visit Texas September 20 for the Sam Houston State game.

2027 Lakeview Centennial (Texas) cornerback Montre Jackson tells OTF he will be visiting the Texas Longhorns this weekend for the matchup against UTEP. Jackson is currently ranked as the No. 20 cornerback in the country and No. 178 player in the country by 247Sports. He tells OTF that he remains in contact with the Texas staff regularly and now he will be in Austin for a game visit. The Garland native possesses elite speed, boasting a 10.39 wind-aided 100m in the spring. In April, Jackson clocked a wind-legal 10.53 100m. The four-star cornerback was at Oklahoma last weekend and the Longhorns will have their crack at impressing one of the top prospects in D…

A larger margin of victory than the previous game is not what constitutes improving, well, at least not in coaches eyes. You ever wonder why Sark doesn't seemed panicked as much or about the same things most of we fans are? First, you have to break the season down in terms of preseason and regular season. Winning out of conference games is great, but the goal is to beat the Ohio States of the world at the end of the season more than it is in game one. Back to why Sark isn't as panicked, concerned maybe, but that's because Sark is playing the long game. Could Sark had lined up and sped by or pushed San Jose State around, ummmm yeah, but that wouldn't do anything for improv…

Who is coming out for Mosely when he is healthy, and is it a positive trade off? If we go 10, Endries? who is a solid threat or If we go 11 or 12, Livingstone? (who is our "best" wr right now possibly) Just a thought.

Vic Schaefer and the WBB program hosted a major 2026 target on Saturday for the San Jose State game. 2026 Christ The King C (N.Y.) Olivia Vukosa was in Austin to check in with the Longhorns. The 6-foot-4-inch center is ranked as the No. 4 overall player in the class of 2026 and the No. 1 center in the country. Vukosa was joined by her mother and three sisters on the 40 Acres. The five-star dropped a final five on Friday, ahead of her trip to Austin. Those five included UConn, South Carolina, Texas, LSU and Ohio State.

Here’s my week three edition of the most random college football facts I could find that pertain to the current state of CFB. The facts: - There are now only 55 undefeated teams remaining at the FBS level. - Mississippi State’s win over No. 12 Arizona State marked the first time they beat a ranked non-conference opponent since 1991. The team they beat was No. 12 ranked Texas. - USF Football is the 9th team in the history of college football to win games at FSU, Florida and Miami. Forty-two have tried. - Florida paid USF $500,000 to get upset on Saturday. Ouch. - After losing to Missouri over the weekend, Kansas is now 0-20 against KSU and Mi…

So a lot was made about Arch's mechanics after game one, most of which I think is overblown. What I saw and continue to see is Arch seeing it late and letting it rip using upper body strength. Whereas with Quinn, who didn't have the arm strength of Arch would drop his eyes and take a sack. So my question is, how or what is Sark doing to confuse Arch so it helps him down the road? The reason I ask is maybe not so much with UGA who confuses blocking schemes more than they try to confuse qbs, Oklahoma will be able to replicate or mimic a lot of what Ohio State did. BV scheme won't include NFL principles or high level route matching, but it is complicated enough and always ha…

It's been 2 games and we only have 2 total sacks and Colin Simmons only had .5 sacks and is leading the country in penalties. Should we fire Baker and PK and who should we get to replace them. I'm pretty sure after that Oregon game, OSU DC will be free after the season.
