Just a tad early for the overreactions, but hey.. here we are! From USA Today: Arch Manning amassed good stats in Texas' rout of San Jose State, but he was far from flawless. What if Arch Manning doesn’t stink? And, what if he’s not some blend of Tim Tebow meets Joe Burrow? What if he’s just … average? Maybe, a notch above average, especially when he’s not facing Ohio State. I know, I know, when evaluating Manning, it’s a spicy-takes-only zone. I’m at risk of a committing party foul, because there’s nothing especially spicy about calling a first-year starting quarterback average. Based on what we’ve seen of Manning through two starts thi…

This was a part of the broadcast intro Saturday, BEFORE the game started. I’ve zoomed in but the stands are all orange so clearly a home game which would mean this was from last year. It’s just something he does.

Please feel free to add your picks for players with big performances. *** 3 Stars of the Game vs. San Jose State Star #1: WR Parker Livingstone Four receptions, 128 yards, two touchdowns. Statistically, the box score looks great for Parker Livingstone, and what is funny is his most impressive reception of the day was called back due to penalty. What was most encouraging was the trust in the red zone to go directly to Livingstone on the slant. Really impressive day for Livingstone. Star #2: LB Anthony Hill Jr. Creating two turnovers in a single game is definitely worth a spot on the three stars of the game list. But even b…

Steve Sarkisian has made it clear that he’s playing the long game when it comes to depth and managing injuries, which is why No. 7 Texas was without a few key players for Saturday’s 38-7 win over San Jose State at Royal-Texas Memorial Stadium. Running back Quintrevion Wisner, who rushed for a game-high 86 yards in a season-opening road loss to Ohio State, is dealing with a leg injury. Not wanting to “force the issue with him,” Sarkisian said, Wisner watched CJ Baxter Jr. (13 carries for 64 yards), Jerrick Gibson (seven carries for 38 yards) and Christian Clark (23 yards on four carries) lead the rushing attack from the sideline. “I wanted Christian to play more;…

OnTexasFootball can report that Texas remains in contact with 4-star++ Florida Gators DL commit Kendall Guervil (Fort Myers, Gla./High). Guervil committed to Florida over Texas July 2. The 6-4.5, 310 pounder suffered a season ending knee injury (ACL) in the season opener, but that has not kept Kenny Baker and staff from remaining in contact.

I think we should retire the Stroh experiment. Should we get a look at Robertson or Cruz at center? The PFF grades for our OL are terrible. Can we get an expert to break it down for us? I just think we have regressed more than expected.

For anyone interested in forming an opinion of how we will be attacked or how we'll attack here is a condensed copy of UTEP-UT Martin. I'm familiar with the team with my nephew signed to next year's class. They aren't very good 🤫 don't tell him I said that. 🤣 or if you just want to watch to build a wall of worry that's fine too. https://youtu.be/vVgFFd3razk?feature=shared

I have a suggestion for a new OTF YouTube show. Y’all should do an SEC power rankings weekly. Halfway through the season, you should suggest which teams should be in the playoffs each week based on their record and strength of schedule. @Bobby Burton @Gerry Hamilton

View from the Cheap Seats Sputtering vs Sparty The San Jose State Spartans came to town and surprised most TEXAS fans and players with their very disciplined brand of football. They proved to be a better test than many expected, which might have been precisely what this team needed. It wasn’t always pretty all the time, it was a win, and it was much-needed reps for this young offense. At times, the Horns looked impressive, while at times, they showed why they have not been able to reach the next level of college football. This three-game stretch at home will be invaluable for the development of our young offense and player…

Look around the college football landscape and you won't find any team to point at and say that's the team to beat. The darling right now is Oregon, because they beat a very bad OSU team. Their flaws haven't shown as much because in both of their wins they've been able to out athlete everyone. Wait until Dante Moore gets to face a defense that wants and has the ability to take away Oregon's strengths, and I don't care who or what era Oregon is playing in, after all the crazy uniforms, the first thing that comes to mind is SAWFT!

Seventh-ranked Texas opened the 2025 home schedule by checking a lot of boxes in Saturday’s 38-7 win over San Jose State. Arch Manning threw for 295 yards and accounted for five touchdowns (four passing and one rushing), quarterbacking an offense that racked up 472 yards (7.3 yards per play). Parker Livingstone recorded the first 100-yard game of his young career (128 yards and two touchdowns on four receptions) and CJ Baxter Jr. (13 carries for 64 yards) paced the running game, which averaged 5.2 sack-adjusted yards per attempt (162 yards gained on 31 non-sack rushing attempts). Pete Kwiatkowski’s defense forced four turnovers (two fumbles forced by Anthony Hil…

...and we have to endure the growing pains. A lot of dudes are finally starting for the first time and they just don't have the game experience to be playing at a very high level. As long as we are improving each game, the best is yet to come. A good example is Arch's awareness of the situation. He wants to make plays when it might be best to run or just eat the play. Simmons is like a mountain goat in heat, he just wants to bang heads, when subtlety might be best on that play. Sark knows what he's doing. Patience is not our strong point.
