Random CFB Facts For Week Three

Here’s my week three edition of the most random college football facts I could find that pertain to the current state of CFB.

The facts:

- There are now only 55 undefeated teams remaining at the FBS level.

- Mississippi State’s win over No. 12 Arizona State marked the first time they beat a ranked non-conference opponent since 1991. The team they beat was No. 12 ranked Texas.

- USF Football is the 9th team in the history of college football to win games at FSU, Florida and Miami. Forty-two have tried.

- Florida paid USF $500,000 to get upset on Saturday. Ouch.

- After losing to Missouri over the weekend, Kansas is now 0-20 against KSU and Mizzou since 2009.

(Bonus KU/Mizzou fact: Mizzou has the same number of Big 12 wins between 2008 and 2023 as Kansas, despite being in the SEC since 2013.)

- Oregon State is the only team in the FBS to have scored a TD but not a conversion. No PATs, no successful 2 point conversions.

- Only two FBS teams have yet to score a TD… Ball State and Charlotte.

- After Saturday’s pick six against Cal Poly, Utah now has 22 straight years with one. That is the longest streak in the nation.

- Washington scored so many touchdowns on Saturday, that they actually ran out of TD celebration fireworks. It marked the first time in ten seasons that the Huskies score 70+ points.

- All four D1 teams from northern Louisiana played on Saturday. They lost by a combined score of 232-7.

- The SEC set the AP poll record for most teams ranked from a single conference with 11 after the latest rankings.

Thanks Blake! Not sure where you find those but it’s wildly entertaining.

Fun fact you lost your mute streak

I'm not going to lie, I was so disappointed. I started yelling "Blake noooo, whyyy." lol.

Someone’s feelings are hurt that I didn’t include Oregon this week.

Dan lanning is 2-0 when playing against teams who’s opposing head coaching run their mouth about his program the week prior to the game (Colorado and OK ST)😂

Rome wasn’t built in a day. This is my Rome.
Unfortunately some days are Groundhog Day in my Rome.

Speaking of Oregon, I hear Joe recently found Dan’s Tik Tok account and is a major fan.

Why don’t you share, Joe?

Don’t you dare blake 🤣🤣

The pick six stat is wild. In today’s game, feels like most teams should be able to accomplish at least one pick six a year. Wonder how many years Texas has rattled off recently.

22 years is Kyle Whittingham’s whole HC tenure at Utah

Our streak is at 4, we did not have a Pick 6 in 2020.

Ethan Burke (2024), Jett Bush (2023), Josh Thompson (2023), D’Shawn Jamison  (2022), Jahdae Barron (2022), Josh Thompson (2021) have had Pick 6s during this streak.

Jahdae should’ve had 2 vs Georgia last year🤦🏼‍♂️

Good stuff. Thanks for sharing that because I was about to look.

Much like my mute count, we got a long way to go…

I was surprised that ESPN readily tracked it via Team Stats so that was much easier than going game by game...

But for you Blake, you need to take your mute count game by game 😂

Haha 100%!

"Mississippi State’s win over No. 12 Arizona State marked the first time they beat a ranked non-conference opponent since 1991. The team they beat was No. 12 ranked Texas."
And I was there in Starkville, Mississippi to see that. It rained just enough to get us all soaked. Another loss to Jackie Sherrill. What a disappointing day.

I believe @Bobby Burton was there too!

That is an astounding factoid.  Ugh, poor KU.
