Arch Manning finishing the 2024 season with 108 rushing yards and four touchdowns on 25 carries was one of the most prolific seasons for a quarterback coached by Steve Sarkisian. What the Texas quarterback accomplished on the ground in his redshirt freshman season is topped only by three others for the best rushing campaigns from behind center under Sarkisian. Jake Locker owns the two top seasons, in 2009 (112 carries for 388 yards and seven touchdowns) and 2010 (114 carries for 385 yards and six touchdowns) during Sarkisian’s time as Washington’s coach. Elite DL schedules visit to Texas One of the top defensive lineman on the board in the 2026 cycle not talked about enough is Damari Simeon (Richland, N.J./St. Augustine). I was very encouraged to see freshman running back Christian Clark working out with weights earlier this week. That means the talented runner from Arizona is well on his way to mending an Achilles heel tore in fall camp. On Texas Football is told that Texas continues to take a cautious yet hopeful approach with his future. On the positive side, Clark is now expected to participate in some drills this spring training. But the team will keep him out of any contact drills for the time being. The Combine is officially wrapped up and the next thing on the docket for the NFL Draft hopefuls is the Texas Pro Day on March 26. With that said, the final takeaways from the Combine are this: *** Quinn Ewers Draft Position A hot topic, as you would expect coming out of Indianapolis. This isn't shocking news, but I was told today not to expect Texas athletic director Chris Del Conte to make any public comments regarding the status of men's basketball coach Rodney Terry until after the 2024-25 season is complete. Again, not an earth-shattering update by any stretch, but don't hold your breath waiting for CDC to address RT's job security publicly.

Former West Virginia head coach Neal Brown is expected to join the Texas staff in an analyst role. Brown was the head coach for the Mountaineers for six seasons and for Troy the four years prior to that. He also experience coaching in the state of Texas as the former offensive coordinator for Texas Tech. High 4-star+ defensive lineman Tico Crittendon is locked in for an OV to Texas June 13-15th. The visit to Texas comes on the heels of a January school visit by Kenny Baker.
