Texas Hoops: One more big; international prospects in play Sean Miller and staff have three more spots to fill on the 2025-26 roster. As it stands now, the Texas roster has already appeared in some way too early top 25 rankings. But the work is far from done. Texas will add one more big, and the Horns lead big for 6-10 rebounder and defender Lassina Traore. Miller will also add one more combo guard to the squad, with the requirements being ball handler and perimeter threat with enough size (likely 6-3/6-4). More on that below. Nuggets on the Recruiting Visitors from Saturday's Practice *** OT John Turntine – Crowley (Texas) North Crowley Turntine was all smiles leaving the facility Saturday afternoon. The five-star prospect has been to Texas plenty of times and spoke about the familiarity of the program and relationship with Kyle Flood. Turntine also mentioned seeing Nick Brooks going out and competing for playing time immediately as an early enrollee as a positive takeaway. Breaking Down Nuggets from Saturday's Practice Practice No. 9 is in the books for the Longhorns. There was a live portion of practice which featured multiple live possessions for the first, second and third teams. I'm hearing that the visit of Stanford receiver Emmett Mosley V has gone really well. Texas has put themselves in a good position to land him. But another team is still hanging around, and that's USC. Emmett's younger brother Trey is committed to the Trojans, and Emmett attended high school at Santa Margarita Catholic in Southern California. The Trojans, however, have a much different set of circumstances at receiver than the Longhorns. USC returns three of their top four receivers from a year ago. Texas DB Derek Williams Jr. Returns to Practice OnTexasFootball has been told Texas safety Derek Williams Jr. was fully suited up and on the practice field for the Longhorns Saturday for practice No. 9 of the spring. Williams tore his ACL against Oklahoma last year and rehabbing the knee throughout the winter. I do not know to what extent Williams was involved in practice this morning, but I do know he was back on the field with the safety group in full pads. Along with an extraordinary list of high school prospects, Texas is hosting Stanford wide receiver Emmett Mosley V on an official visit this weekend. Gerry Hamilton broke the news yesterday. Mosley caught 48 passes for 525 yards and six touchdowns as a true freshman last season. He’s an exacting route runner with terrific size (6-2, 190) and hands. Earlier this week, Mosley visited Virginia. Mosley is not considered a burner, but uses his size, athleticism and technical skills to create separation. I'm told this morning that there's a good chance Texas third baseman Adrian Rodriguez returns to the diamond this weekend, as the Horns head to Lexington to face Kentucky. While it's not set in stone as of this this update, a source close to the program feels optimistic we'll see the freshman phenom in action. Rodriguez has been out since the Horns sweep of Missouri. He is batting .326 at the plate, with 31 hits, 14 RBIs, and 5 home runs. As OTF has reported previously, Rodriguez has been "structurally fine" but Texas wanted to hold him out until he wasn't hurting.

Five-star visitor headed to Austin this weekend Five-star linebacker and current USC pledge Xavier Griffin (Gainesville, Ga./High) is scheduled to make an unofficial visit this weekend per a close to the recruitment. Texas linebacker coach Johnny Nansen and area recruiting Kenny Baker made a stop at Gainesville High in January, and have been in steady communication since. This will be the 6-foot-3.5, 215-pounders first visit to Texas this weekend. The plan for the Texas staff is to then secure a June official visit. Some news and notes based on what we’ve heard: - Even though Ryan Wingo and DeAndre Moore have been sidelined for spring, don’t think they’re taking camp off. I’m told the duo, along with Manny Muhammad, have been working overtime watching film. Muhammad is somewhat famous for how much film he takes in. While there are some big names from in-state and out of state that have been on campus prior, this weekend will be a first even visit to campus for a number of top targets. Two weeks ago, we mentioned that star wide receiver Ryan Wingo would be out for spring because of a hamstring injury. Last week, we learned that potential starting tight end Jordan Washington would be out for a while, a note which Steve Sarkisian confirmed at his press availability earlier today. At the time, we said there was another injury situation we were monitoring. Spoke to a few sources across multiple sports this morning and got a lot of good news across all fronts. Baseball: Texas swept a Top 5 Georgia squad over the weekend, without both Adrian Rodriguez and Max Belyeu. I checked on the status of those two earlier and was told that both are recovering well. Rodriguez is "structurally fine" but the staff does not want to rush his return. "It's solely when he feels better... but we need it to not hurt," said a source. Texas, despite losing its best player Max Belyeu just last week, swept No. 3 ranked Georgia in a three-game series this weekend, punctuated by a walk-off homer in extra innings yesterday. Boom! A start to the 2027 class for the Texas Longhorns! Texas earns a commitment from 2027 Tustin (Calif.) LB Taven Epps has made his commitment to the Texas Longhorns Sunday afternoon. Epps, a 6-foot-4, 225-pound linebacker, recently visited Austin and quickly came away with his decision.
