Texas is down eight starter-level players (one on offense, seven on defense) for this game against Michigan. ** The two biggest questions for this game for me are: 1. Lacey, not Kewan Lacey guys. 😂 In speaking with a source, to say redshirting freshman QB K.J. Lacey has impressed since being on campus would be an understatement. He's viewed as a quick study, along with having natural playmaking skills and a fearlessness about the way he attacks the game and position. Obviosly, he was well coached at Saraland High by Jeff Kelly. His feet and reactive quickness adapted quickly to the speed of the game when he arrived last spring, and that allowed him to advance quickly in terms of his performance.…

What's Next in the Texas RB Room *** The news of Tre Wisner's portal entrance was unfortunate for me. Wisner was one of the first recruits I covered from the very beginning of his recruitment. Before Texas offered, I had made several stops to Connally to see him. When Texas got involved, I was up there even more. After taking a short break for Christmas, most Texas players returned to campus late yesterday afternoon. The team is leaving for Orlando later today on a chartered plane. They’ll have a round of practices over the next four days followed by the game on Wednesday. ** According to ESPN, Michigan is focusing its efforts on Kyle Whittingham, the former Utah coach, to serve as its next head coach. What the 2027 NFL Draft could look like It's still fairly early to have a great feel for what the 2027 NFL Draft will look like. That's because there are some decisions by juniors still remaining that will likely help shape the top 50 picks or so in 2027. With that being said, it's not too early to take a snap shot glance at many of the players that will be draft eligible, and how the early mocks could look. A couple of players who have announced for the portal to know: CB Bo Mascoe - Rutgers DL Ian Geffrard - Arkansas Before becoming an Honorable Mention All-Big 10 selection in 2025, Mascoe played for and was recruited to Rutgers by current Texas cornerbacks coach Mark Orphey. He totaled more than 50 tackles and made one interception this season. He’s originally from Kissimmee, Fla. The No. 2 ranked Longhorns are 13-0 heading into today’s matchup at South Dakota State.
