The Texas personnel department continued its recent run of pledges yesterday evening by adding Georgetown offensive lineman Kaden Scherer to the fold. Scherer is part of a recent trend for the Horns. Texas, late in the process, is focusing on a mix of players, who seem to have high upside traits but may not be ranked as highly among the recruiting media industry. That’s the case not only with Scherer, but also with Portage, Mich., tight end Charlie Jilek, Carlsbad, Calif., linebacker Rocky Cummings, and speedy defensive back Josiah Vilmael of Fort Bend. Then there are the proverbial blue chippers, too. Baylor defensive line pledge Jamarrion Carlton is among them…

Recent Discoveries on 2026 Texas Recruiting, Transfer Portal and Hoops in Maui *** Texas has added back-to-back Austin area commits who were previously committed to P4 programs over the last 48 hours. Both OL Kaden Scherer and RB Jett Walker earned their Texas offers, took official visits and quickly opted to join the Longhorn class all in about a two week span. The Longhorns continue to hunt for pieces to fill out the class as well. After the additions of the Georgetown duo, plus TE Charlie Jilek, Texas has its sights set on LB Rocky Cummings, OL Brysten Martinez, EDGE Jamarion Carlton, DL Richard Anderson and DB Josiah Vilmael. Perhaps a new nam…

What Has Worked for Texas on Scoring Drives in 2025? I frequently take trips down statistical rabbit holes during the offseason. It is a safe haven for me. To be lost in search of random trends and statistical anomalies that tell parts of a story that previously had holes in the conclusion. Rarely do I take these trips in the middle of the season. And for good reason. Often times, these rabbit holes take a long time to sift and rummage through. However, after watching four consecutive scoring drives take place for the Texas offense in the 4th quarter and overtime against Miss State, I knew there was some credence to what my mind was telling me I was seeing…

2026 RB Jett Walker Flips to Texas *** Texas is on the board with a commitment from 2026 Georgetown RB Jett Walker. Walker was on campus for an official visit over the weekend, and the news of his commitment comes shortly after returning home to Georgetown. The 6-foot-2 running back comes in around 210 pounds, and a very lengthy highlight tape. Walker averaged 10.3 yards per carry as a junior and has been a do it all back once again in 2025. The Longhorns now have two commits in the 2026 class at the RB spot as Walker joins Derrek Cooper, who was also on campus this weekend. View full news story

Steve Sarkisian Weekly Press Conference | November 24, 2025 *** The final week of the regular season has arrived! Feels weird to say. Texas is coming off of a 52–37 victory over Arkansas on Saturday, and will face a short week ahead with a meeting at home against Texas A&M on Friday. Currently, the Longhorns sit on the outside looking in for the College Football Playoff, a win Friday is the first step, then a lot of help is needed to get in. Last week, a few readers dismissed my assertion that the Texas offense had been moving in the right direction and was becoming a consistent strength of the team. That’s understandable. I wrote and said that right after a paltry 10-point performance against Georgia. Yet here we are after a 52-37 win over Arkansas, and I’ll say the same thing again this morning. And that fact - at least to me - is as clear as day. The Texas offense has emerged as the team’s better, more consistent and more reliable unit. Since the flip switched for Arch Manning late against Mississippi State, he is 99 of 152 for 1,314 yards, 11 TDs and just two INTs. That’s an average of…

Texas vs. Arkansas … at DKR Austin, Texas November 22, 2025 **** Texas is back at home to face off with Arkansas in a game certainly classifies as a must-win for the 2025 season, but beyond that, it is a must-win for the program. Which Texas team are we going to get tomorrow? While the offense has not exactly bathed itself in glory this season, it at least seems to be moving in the right direction of late. The defense, however, is a different story. In the first five games of the year, Texas was giving up 260 yards a game. In the last five, that figure is up to 375 yards a game. in other words, Texas has an improving offense with a defense headed in the opposite direction. And that’s exactly why people are somewhat confounded by this Texas team. ** I hope we see a consistent offense tomorrow combined with a defense that can get off the field on third and long. …

Confidence Required for Press Man Coverage *** Beyond all of the commotion and hooplah surrounding the clapbacks from Steve Sarkisian to the media this weekend, there is still a football game to be played this weekend. One, where the Texas defense will surely need to play its best ball in order to slow down what will be one of the best offensive units the Longhorns have faced this season. Obviously a big concern for the Horns over the last three weeks has been the pass defense. Texas has been very leaky in the back end with miscommunications and busted coverages showing up far too often. Opposing quarterbacks have tossed 11 passing touchdowns and are a…

Hoops recruiting: Sean Miller inks top 7 class; multiple 5-star's for the women? Five-star combo guard Austin Goosby officially signed with Texas Wednesday, thus giving Sean Miller a top 10 recruiting class in the 2026 cycle. The class is ranked as high as No. 7 with a spring signing period remaining. Why does OTF mention the spring signing period? The only way that Texas would consider a fifth high school prospect currently is if top 20 ranked Deron Rippey Jr. (Blairstown, N.J./Blair Academy) waits until the spring to announce a decision. Texas would likely hang around the rim on Rippey if that's the case. The 6-foot-2 point guard has a final five of Duke, N.…
