NC State transfer running back Hollywood Smothers committed to Alabama almost a week ago now. But he never signed his NIL deal with the Crimson Tide. Smothers is now expected to be on the Texas campus Saturday and Sunday, according to On Texas Football. Smothers rushed for 939 yards and six TDs in 2025 and also made 37 receptions for another score. He's 5-11, 195 pounds and has breakaway speed. Another one! Texas adds to its 2026 portal class with veteran linebacker Justin Cryer from Florida State! Cryer was a three year contributor in Tallahassee, totaling 86 tackles, 1 sack and 1 interception over those seasons. In 2025, Cryer racked up 43 tackles as well and was an eight game starter. Former Oregon State OL Dylan Sikorski Signs With Texas *** Texas adds its first offensive lineman of the 2026 portal window! Former Oregon State guard Dylan Sikorski has committed to the Longhorns following a two-day visit in Austin. Sikorski started six games for the Beavers in 2025, amassing 444 snaps and playing in a total of eight games. The redshirt freshman has three years of eligibility remaining and is currently listed at 6-foot-4 and 332 pounds. He will compete for a spot at guard in 2026. Cryer, listed at 6-foot-1 and 238 pounds, started eight games for Noles and appeared in all 12 in 2025. For his career, Cryer has over 730 snaps ranging over three seasons. The portal isn’t very fun right now, right? Until the imports start rolling in, that’s largely the mood across the Longhorn fanbase. As of this writing, Texas is up to 19 portal entrants and will likely hit 20 soon. That number itself isn’t surprising. I reported in mid-December that 20 would be the expected mark. The real question is how much higher it climbs. With several names still in balance, a total in the mid-20s is very much in play for the 2026 cycle. What is surprising is who has entered.
