Of course it was not known during Whitman's life that he had a tumor.

Despite the fact that he is a long time hoops fan who should know better he won't respect others at this website and he will not back away from his apparent obsession. John Clark did have a fine HS career until his injury. I am looking forward to his being a presence on both ends of the floor as a rotational BIG.

I remember watching Collins play too. He was part of Royal's first great backfield with Cotten, Poage, and Saxton. Later I "knew" him as one of the bankers at Austin National Bank. He wasn't my firm's banker but we occasionally dealt with him, and I retain the memory of him as cordial and helpful.

Are we talking 1st, 2d, and honorable mention? Given all three categories the depth of talent should show up across the platoons.

Cosby played quite a bit in the season and in the USC game, in my recall. David Thomas was so good as a receiver and Ramonce was often a slot as a practical matter so there were no shortage of targets for Vince. If you don't remember how that was the best OL ever at Texas just watch the two point conversion at the end of the USC game. Robison and Crowder were the best pair of Edges Texas ever had. Robison was a Pro Bowler. The FB had a decent NFL career, one of the RBs led the NFL in rushing, another had a good career, and a third one played DE in the League. And then there was the tragedy of Ramonce. That team was astonishing. 70-3 in the Big 12 Champ game. Ask Joel Klatt. And I didn't mention the QB. If this team goes 16-0 and floods the NFL with the ROY and several Pro Bowlers over time let me know.

You make a compelling argument and I think you SHOULD be correct. I continue to share the concern that the committee will favor spreading the wealth and not recognizing the gap from SEC-B1G-ND to everyone else. There are half a dozen teams with the talent, depth, and coaching to win it all, but I think all six are in the SEC-B1G-ND grouping. On paper, ND should have the best record going into the playoff, but all the SEC-B1G teams will have been far more tested at that time. Of course, last season Clemson was a preseason lock to be one of the half dozen contenders. So I am only suggesting, not predicting.

Right back at y'all! At dessert, six of us in family will read the Declaration of Independence in assigned parts around the table and then have blueberries, strawberries and whipped cream, our traditional red, white, and blue dessert. We have tried to do this most years when we were at home. We have needed four or more of us together to make this a fun effort. The reading has always been thought provoking, except for the year when one of our neighbors who had been invited made a mockery of his reading either because he was drunk or because he actually despised the document, or both. What do y'all do, including swimming and grilling, when you aren't visiting family away on the 4th?
