Four-star RB target locks in April visit Add another 4-star offensive target to the April 6th visit weekend for the Texas Longhorns. Tyler (Texas) Chapel Hill's Rickey Stewart told OnTexasFootball Thursday morning that he is locked in for a visit April 6. He will make that visit with his mother. There is also a chance he will attend the Spring Game April 20. Stewart was one of a handful of 2025 prospects offered by Steve Sarkisian and staff January 20. Sarkisian and area recruiter Blake Gideon followed with a visit to Chapel Hill High the following week. Since the Texas offer, the Longhorns have held a big lead in the race for the east Texas tar and …

K.J. Lacey schedules two visits to Texas Texas quarterback commitment K.J. Lacey (Saraland, Al./High) will be on campus twice this spring. OnTexasFootball was informed late Wednesday night that the 6-0, 180 pound Saraland High star will be a pair of visits in April. Lacey will first visit the weekend of April 6th to be in town for the Texas big offensive recruiting weekend that includes a number of offensive targets in the 2025 cycle. He will return two weeks later for the Longhorns Spring Game April 20th weekend. Head coach Steve Sarkisian and quarterbacks coach A.J. Milwee made a stop at Saraland High January 30. The duo also attended Saraland High's fi…

Moving to the SEC, what would you consider success for the Horns? It's a big step up in competition (big boy football). The bar isn't as high as last year to get into the CFP. I think Texas has 2 losses regular season and at least 1 CFP win. Yalls thoughts.

With more and more college coaches leaving the college football ranks due to more work, NIL, and the ever changing landscape. Do we think UT will have to start paying position coaches a minimum of 1 million dollars to keep their best coaching talent? Do we see that coming in the near future? @Gerry Hamilton @Bobby Burton @CJ Vogel

A lot of good stuff in that video. You would have thought Texas lost by the way he talks, but I love that he’s never satisfied.

Just a thought here but, I have seen multiple 2024 CFP mocks with 3- 4 SEC teams in the final 12. What if there was an undefeated Georgia (or Texas) going into the SEC champ game. And the #2 and #3 SEC teams playing the last last regular season game against each other. Would #2 or # 3 consider actively (sitting starters) or passively (vanilla game plan) tanking that last game to fall to the #3 SEC bid to the CFP? (And avoid the SEC championship game) If you thought you had a low% chance to win the SEC title game (winner gets the first round CFP bye but loser has to play the first round of the CFP anyway) bowing out might be a pragmatic strategy. …

I expect Manny to become a Star this year in a full-time role. I think he will be known nationally after the season. Will be All-SEC preseason player heading into his Junior Year and getting significant draft hype. He will be Day 2 Lock with potential in late 1st round.

We continue trekking forward closer to the beginning of spring football. It is getting ever so close, but first, there remains some topics that need to be discussed. Today, that topic is with the reload going on in the wide receiver room and how Steve Sarkisian and Chris Jackson might be able to deploy the new group of weapons. *** For this exercise, I wanted to take a look into a number of categories from the 2023 season – alignment by position (slot vs. outside), average distance of target, yards after catch and drop rate. Of course, numbers will be limited for Johntay Cook who is expecting to make a leap into the rotation fully for the first time as a Lo…

Happy Tuesday! Wanted to drop off a few recruiting notes before hitting the trail this morning. I will be hitting some more Austin area schools through the rest of the week. But for now, I am feeling like Jokic the way I am coming with the Nuggets. *** I traded messages earlier with 2026 five-star DL Jahkeem Stewart out of New Orleans (LA) about his communication levels with Texas. Stewart has been on campus multiple times since popping up on the recruiting scene as an eighth grader back in San Antonio during the All American Bowl combine. Stewart said that his communication with Texas is up in the air at the moment. Texas did stop by in January when Brand…

One of the top defensive targets for the Texas Longhorns in the 2025 class is returning to Austin in April. McKinney (Texas) High linebacker Riley Pettijohn tells OnTexasFootball that he will make an unofficial visit for the Texas Spring Game April 20. That will be the last of five spring visits for the 6-2, 210 pound defender out of the DFW area. Pettijohn will visit Florida State March 23, Ohio State March 30, USC April 6, Texas A&M April 13 prior to Texas April 20. Headed into January, Texas and Florida State were the two schools mentioned first and second according to a source close to the recruitment. USC was the third. A January 27 Junior D…
