On Texas Football Forum

A place where fellow Longhorns can discuss Texas Football, Sports and Recruiting with one another and the staff of On Texas Football.

  1. Hi fellas! I want some transparency from some of the members with recruiting backgrounds and knowledge. Obviously I've heard stories from Bobby and Gerry about some of the dirty play that used to go on in recruiting before the days of social media, and news was everywhere. What kinds of things happen in today's game of recruiting that might be considered "Playing dirty" among recruits? Thank guys! 🤘🏼

Gerry or Bobby were either of y’all involved when Limas Sweed was recruited to Texas. Just curious if y’all remember another receiver there at the same time named Jeffery Filmore? Kid had great hands but no big time offers. Was wondering why?

  6. Just some notes that I picked up... Let's talk receivers to start. - Ryan Wingo continues to show out as a true freshman. Behind the scenes, Wingo is being talked about as possibly the most talented true freshman on the team. At receiver specifically, Wingo and Aaron Butler are both showing some early promise in workouts. Parker Livingstone and Freddie Dubose Jr. have been behind those two. However, keep in mind, this is very early in workouts and both Livingstone and Dubose are coming off of significant injuries. - Isaiah Bond is expected to be the team's No. 1 receiver at this point. However, I am told that Matthew Golden has been a pleasant surprise. "He…

  7. Steve Sarkisian has extended an offer to the No. 1 QB in the country for the class of 2026. Jared Curtis, a 6-foot-4 quarterback out of Nashville, TN, has reported an offer following a phone call with the Texas head coach. There is currently a prediction in for Curtis to end up at Georgia, but Texas is now officially in the running. View full news

The Longhorns remain in the hunt to find their top quarterback prospects for the 2026 cycle. Steve Sarkisian extended an offer to 2026 Mission Hills (CA) quarterback Troy Huhn late Wednesday night. Huhn is a very fun prospect on film. He also brings a great frame for a quarterback at 6-foot-4. View full news

  10. Rod Babers and C.J. Vogel will be on hand to discuss what’s happening with the team in early workouts, recruiting, revisit some of Chris Del Conte’s Town Hall comments, combine invites, draft projections… and your questions and comments. And since we’re sure every single one of you has a big night planned with your significant other, we plan to start earlier than usual, hopefully by 7pm so we can wrap it up earlier for the ensuing wining and dining. See you soon!

  11. Texas has made the top six for 2025 McKinney LB Riley Pettijohn. Pettijohn has long been a target of the Longhorns in the 2025 class. The McKinney star made it to campus for the Junior Day and Texas made a stop in-person at McKinney soon after to double-up on the face time. Georgia, Florida State, USC, Texas A&M and Ohio State round out the top six with the Longhorns. View full news

  12. Spent the morning out at Westlake High School in Austin to check in on a number of top prospects, as well as catching up with Coach Tony Salazar, one of the best coaches in the state. There were a number of prospects that stood out on the trip, though five specifially caught my eye. *** 2026 QB Rees Wise was mentioned by our Gerry Hamilton yesterday in a 2026 quarterback article yesterday. Wise has received offers from Houston, SMU, Texas Tech, Oklahoma State and Nebraska since the middle of January. At 6-feet-2-inches, Wise has the prototypical size and a lively arm. I really enjoy Westlake's approach to the offseason. They run a tight ship and the kids are …

  13. Hey Gents, feel free to delete this. I was about to buy some Nuggets/Suns tickets but can't remember the name or code of the site that advertises on the YouTube channel. (If they still do) Thought it might be nice to have a page where we can help support when we purchase to your vendors. Hook Em...

If there is one player that didn't win a National Championship that you wish did, who would it be? I'm torn between Colt and J Whitt.

  17. I made the quick trip over to Del Valle High School Tuesday afternoon to get updated on a few prospects that could pop up on college radars over the next couple of months. There were three that really caught my eye that I will dive into a bit further into this piece. *** First off, Del Valle has produced a solid D1 piece or two basically every other year since I arrived in Austin. The school has tremendous facilities, some of the nicest in the state, yet has seen a lot of turnover at the head coaching spot over the last few years. Now with Coach Todd Patmon in charge, it is expected to see much improved consistency on the field and development for prospects. …
