  1. Four-star LB locks in Texas and USC official visits OnTexasFootball 4-star linebacker Riley Pettijohn (McKinney, Texas/High) has locked in two official visits in June, and Texas is one of the two. Pettijohn, 6-2 and 215 pounds, told OnTexasFootball Wednesday night he is scheduled to make an official visit to Texas June 14-16. The official visit will be preceded by an unofficial visit for the Longhorns Spring Game April 20. The two visits to Texas will add to a list of several, including January 20 Junior Day. Texas head coach Steve Sarkisian made a stop at McKinney High in late January as well. The DFW are athletic and instinctive linebacker is…

  2. The Texas Longhorns continue to set up official visits for two big weekends in June. Hours after OnTexasFootball broke the news that Tyler (Texas) Chapel Hill running back Rickey Stewart will officially visit June 14-16, OTF can report a 4-star wide receiver target will visit the same weekend. Hitchcock (Texas) High speedy playmaker Kelshaun Johnson will make his official visit to Texas June 14-16. Johnson, 5-11 and 165 pounds with 4.4 speed, will begin the official visit process the last weekend in May with a trip to Penn State. He will follow up the trip to Happy Valley with an official visit to Texas Tech June 7-9. Texas head coach Steve Sarkisia…

This week, Gerry, CJ and I talk big picture issues, including the strength of Texas football this spring, Rodney Terry's first year at the helm, and how proposed new NCAA rules, particularly a June signing day, would impact the Longhorns. View full news

  4. A few nuggets I have come across this weekend in regards to Texas recruiting the 2025 class. *** First, there is a desire from new Texas offer and current Auburn DL commit Malik Autry to visit Austin this spring. Autry told me he is going to be making the trip to Texas but there was no date or timeline attached for when that might take place. The 6-foot-5.5 and 320-pound defensive lineman has been committed to Auburn since February 1, 2023. Any chance of flipping this commitment starts with a visit to campus and building from there. Until then, it's just a prayer. *** Our Gerry Hamilton released the visit dates for 2025 Jasper TE Kiotti Arms…

  5. Trying to remember an awesome game-winning play. Think it was an outfielder being mobbed celebrating on the field by his teammates as his jersey gets ripped off exposing a T-Shirt of a Cat Wearing Super-Model Glasses. Funny as hell!

  9. I can’t believe that this scene of TT giving the one finger salute in the middle of DKR didn’t get any attention, truly classless

  10. I reached out to ask about Texas Baseball being on TV this weekend and this is what I was told: All nine of the tournament games will be televised by Space City Home Network and available on the channel in the entirety of the Astros five-state viewing area. Seven of the nine games will be on the primary channel, with Saturday’s afternoon and night games being aired live on the Space City Home Network alternate channel. Additionally, all nine games will also be streamed live without a paywall on Astros.com and on the Astros X, Facebook and YouTube channels.

  11. Per ESPN, NCAA meeting on changing the dates of the signing period for high school football prospects. And I've got say I love it! Here is where it's headed (A Power 5 assistant mentioned this to me Tuesday)... Last Wednesday in June - early signing period Wednesday after regular season ends in college football (those are for the December HS graduates by and large) and First Wednesday in February Hey, yippee!!! The NCAA may finally get something right

  12. Four-star TE locks in Texas visit Jasper (Texas) High tight end Kiotti Armstrong has locked in a trio of spring visits, and one of those is to the Texas Longhorns. Armstrong, 6-5 and 250 pounds, will make an unofficial visit to Texas April 13. That will be the last of three visits currently scheduled. The Southeast Texas native will begin his spring unofficial visits with a trip to LSU March 23. He will follow that with a visit to Texas A&M April6. The Aggies are also working to get Armstrong on campus March 30. Armstrong attended Texas Junior Day January 20, and spent about 20 minutes talking with head coach Steve Sarkisian. Sarkisian also stop…

  13. The entire town of Canadian up in the Panhandle was evacuated yesterday. Other small towns like Fritch stood in the way, too. We have a friend who checks in every morning on Coffee & Football from Canadian. Our sincere hope is that you and your family are ok. Please keep that part of our state in your thoughts today.

  15. Texas moved on from Tom Herman after the 2020 season with a combined record of 32-18. Notable accomplishments include and a Big 12 championship game appearance, four bowl wins, 2018 & 2019 3rd ranked recruiting classes. I think most people are aware of why Herman was let go but if Texas had retained Herman how do we think it would have played out? How would he have handled NIL? His recruiting classes suffered substantial attrition. Would that trend of continued? Would he have used the transfer portal to fix the holes in the roster or was the locker room too far gone? Could he have repaired the relationships he needed to in order to be succes…

Can I interest you in a reunion of DeMarvion Overshown and Jaylan Ford? Ford has met with the Cowboys in Indianapolis at the Combine for an informal interview.

  17. News and notes on various aspects of the team and its players. It's what we call emptying the notebook. ** Jaray Bledsoe - "Looks great." Alex January - "He's going to play this year." Sydir Mitchell - "Improving. Body looks a little better." ** The two freshman offensive linemen were singled out. Brandon Baker is said to be an outstanding athlete and his off-field, weight-room demeanor has been similar to that of Kelvin Banks when Banks first arrived. After the glowing about Baker finished, the source was quick to mention the professional demeanor of Daniel Cruz as well. "Those two are keepers," the source said. ** T…

Who gets the Captain spots and who are the behind the scenes leaders in the mold of ROJO and JWhitt? Which players are pushing the standard and enforcing the culture buy in?

  19. Looking back at recruiting classes can be a difficult process. How do you grade them (based solely on college performance and what they did at Texas?), when exactly do you grade them (at the end of four years or five years, or even further out), etc? Well, hindsight is 20/20 as they say. To remove any ambiguity, I developed this retrospective solely on players who played in the NFL (does not include taxi/practice squad) and take into consideration roster attrition. 2011 (21 signees/3 NFL players) - RB, Malcolm Brown; DB, Quandre Diggs; DB, Mykkele Thompson Evaluation Rate: 3/21 = 14.29% (No. of players who made the NFL divided by number of signees) …

  20. The Texas staff has offered 2025 Warner Robbins (GA) defensive end Isaiah Gibson. The 6-foot-4 edge prospect is the latest in the cycle to report an offer from the Texas Longhorn staff. Interestingly here, the offer was extended by Texas RB coach Tashard Choice who obviously has deep ties to the Georgia area. Gibson was recently ranked as a top 25 national prospect per On3. It is not an easy task to pull an elite prospect out of the Peach State, but the Longhorns are officially in the running here. View full news
