On Texas Football Forum

A place where fellow Longhorns can discuss Texas Football, Sports and Recruiting with one another and the staff of On Texas Football.

  1. Texas baseball took it on the chin this weekend at Minute Maid going 0-3 for the weekend against LSU, Texas State and Vanderbilt. The Good- the offense got bad on its horse after the LSU game scoring 21 runs in the last 2 games. The bad- Horns pitching staff allowed 31 runs and serving up entirely too many cookies giving up 7 home runs on the weekend. The ugly- 20 strikeouts Friday night against LSU. Lost a lead late against Texas State Saturday followed by a monumental collapse today against Vanderbilt losing 14-11 after racing out to a 11-3 lead. Coach Pierce has historically turned things around after slow starts to the season. Only this ye…

There is always the same nonsense that comes with Texas football. Here is the new one. This staff is developing players and maximizing talent. Oh and by the way they actually seem to be like family, not just a bumper sticker saying. It's nice to see.

  3. Big Human in 2026 class to visit Texas in April Kyle Flood is getting a start on the 2026 class by hosting Euless Trinity OL Pupungatoa Katoa for an unofficial visit on April 13. Katoa is a massive human that the Longhorns have been monitoring for a bit. Kyle Flood visited Euless Trinity back in the early winter time to see Katoa in person. So far, the offer list has grown for the 6-foot-5 and 385-pound Trinity Trojan. Katoa sits with seven offers: Texas State, Utah State, Nebraska, Oklahoma, Texas Tech, Houston, SMU, Miami and TCU. Again, this is a 385-pound offensive line prospect coming to town. Big, big, big. *** April 13 is looking more …

  5. We are two weeks away from the start of spring football in Austin, Texas – wrap that through your brain and get excited this Tuesday morning! A rundown of each early enrollee heading into the spring season and what their focus will be or what it is we want to see from them for the 15 practices they are allotted. *** QB Trey Owens - Cypress Fair HS (TX) The freshman quarterback arrived to campus at 6-foot-5 and 238 pounds. Owens will work into the third team reps this spring with the focus on body transformations and the understanding of the offense. Sarkisian and Milwee will be working to get Owens up to speed this spring with calls, formations and ass…

  7. Any of the mods have insight on this? I was under the impression it was indeed an admissions issue, but this guy's throwing some shade. Not really sure what he's implying though... a recruiting violation during COVID? Fake ACT scores? Or just Worthy having a change of heart? https://www.si.com/college/texas/football/former-michigan-coach-reveals-how-wolverines-fumbled-xavier-worthy-texas-longhorns-hands

I'm digging all their player interviews! Great candid conversations that are lively and fun to watch. They have a unique perspective and you can tell the players not only are comfortable, but also enjoy sitting down with them and shooting the breeze. Derrick Johnson has mentioned several times that he's been around the team a bunch this past year, watching practices and around the facilities. Does anyone know whether he has any interest in coaching? You can tell he's got the personality to crush it coaching and recruiting. Comes across very genuine and has a pretty infectious energy/enthusiasm.

  11. Following an earlier reported offer by Kenny Baker to 2025 Randle (TX) DL Chace Sims, a pair of additional offers have been extended to out of state targets. The first going to Newberry (FL) DL Jarquez Carter. The 6-foot-2 interior defensive lineman holds 31 offers currently and sits just outside of the top 300 national prospects according to the 247Sports Composite rankings. https://www.instagram.com/p/C4JhsigLm3e/?utm_source=ig_web_copy_link&igsh=MzRlODBiNWFlZA== The second offer was a joint offer by both Kenny Baker and Tashard Choice. Though sticking in Florida for this one, the Longhorns extend an offer to Port Orange (FL) DL Derry Norris Jr…

  13. Earlier this morning we took a look at the early enrollees on the offense side of the ball two weeks out from the beginning of spring ball. Now that most of us have taken care of lunch and are cruising towards 5:00 p.m. to come rolling around, spend a few minutes reading about the defense. *** DT Alex January – Duncanville HS (TX) The lone early enrollee in the interior of the defensive line comes in with big shoes to fill. Luckily, there has been plenty of positive remarks surrounding Alex January surrounding his approach to the winter conditioning program. January has slimmed down about 15 pounds since his arrival to campus. The staff is working on r…

  14. DFW OL's lock in Texas official visit Cedar Hill (Texas) High offensive linemen Jordan Coleman (6-5, 362) and Devin Coleman (6-4.5, 320) have locked in an official visit date to Texas. The talented and fast rising duo tells OnTexasFootball they will officially visit Texas June 21-23. The visit being set up comes on the heels of Steve Sarkisian, Tashard Choice and Kyle Flood stopping by the school in January. And a subsequent offer in February to Devin Coleman. OTF made a stop at Cedar Hill High last Monday to get the latest on the powerful duo. Jordan Coleman was offered by Texas June 11, 2023 after a stellar camp performance. And Devin Coleman …

  15. OnTexasFootball has learned 2026 Mission Hills (San Marcos, CA) quarterback Troy Huhn will be returning to Austin April 6 for an unofficial visit. Steve Sarkisian and the Longhorn staff have extended three offers in the 2026 class, though there is the most familiarity with Huhn who will be making his third appearance to campus since his recruitment began. Huhn received his Texas offer February 15 and will return for the Longhorns' busy visit weekend at the beginning of April. Milwee and Sarkisian watched Huhn throw in-person in June of 2023 and invited him to the Kansas State game at home in November as well. It is early, but all indications point to m…

  16. March Madness Report: Huge opportunity in Waco Let's begin the Big Monday showdown in Waco with a chance to end a bad streak. The Texas Longhorns have the opportunity to do something tonight the program hasn't accomplished since February 1, 2016 - win at Baylor. That's right, it's been eight years since Texas walked out of the Ferrell Center with a victory. Of course that would be nice, but there are much more important and bigger things on the table tonight. With last weeks wins at Texas Tech and Oklahoma State in Austin, the Longhorns are back inside the top 30 of the NCAA NET rankings. Texas begins the week at No. 27. That means Texas is right there on the …

While I was hoping to get an idea of the current landscape of 2026 DL Tiki Hola's recruitment while on the road at Bastrop High this morning, I wanted to get a first look at what could end up being a very special quarterback coming through the ranks in central Texas. 2027 QB Weston Nielsen has seen his recruitment really pop over the last few weeks. After starting the final eight games of the regular season, the cat is out of the bag with the CenTex gunslinger. Nielsen received his offer from Oregon on September 24, then received nine offers in the months of January and February. Texas made two stops by Bastrop during the contact window to evaluate Nielsen …

  20. The Texas Longhorns continue the pursuit of OnTexasFootball 4-star defensive tackle Kevin Wynn (Greensboro, Ga./Greene County). After offering February 20, Kenny Baker and Tashard Choice have maintained contact with the 6-3, 320 pound defensive tackle, and those close to him. Baker and Choice have been in contact with Wynn's circle two or three times since offering a source told OnTexasFootball Tuesday morning. Baker is talking with Wynn and family about a potential spring visit date. According to the source, Texas, LSU and Florida are schools that have been mentioned as schools Wynn would like to go see this spring prior to locking in his full June official v…

  22. Joining the California Power 7-on-7 team in attending The University of Texas March 22 will be 2025 DeSoto DB Sael Reyes. The 6-foot-1 defensive back has 26 offers since his recruitment began. Originally from Illinois, there is plenty of ties to the both the Texas area and the Midwest. Texas originally offered Reyes back in March of 2023, right around this time a year ago. Reyes and Texas have been rather off and on in communication, however a stop to campus with his 7-on-7 team could help turn this ship around. Reyes’ brother is former Texas A&M DB Antonio Johnson — something worth mentioning. View full news
