Sark seems to be the first real competitor to Mack Brown when it comes to recruiting. I recognize that this is a different era with NIL, but both coaches excelled at roster building over multiple recruiting cycles. I’m interested in everyone’s thoughts on the two when it comes to recruiting. From my perspective, Mack changed the recruiting landscape with his emphasis on early recruiting, and locking down the state of Texas. People sometimes point to A&M joining the SEC as opening the floodgates to out of state schools, but if you look at the old Austin statesman rankings, the floodgates were open in the 1990s also. But I always wonder what might have been if Mack…

The Texas Longhorns official visit weekends are taking shape quickly. In the case of the defensive back position, this list may take a little longer to play out. OnTexasFootball has been gathering information of some of the top targets at the defensive back position yet to lock in official visit dates. Specifically, I want to get some feedback on Will Howard. I've watched some Ohio State fans gush on this guy, but I don't get it. He was an average Big 12 QB. He transferred because he wasn't going to even start in 2024. He personally lost the game to OK State in 2023. This is the glaring hole for the Buckeyes in 2024. If we face them in the playoff, I hope Will Howard is their QB.

with all the talent coming in on unofficial and official visits, i've started to think this could be one of the most interesting recruiting years ever. it seems like there is an abundance of talent options at every position... and though there are some clear leans / obvious fits to texas, there are so many possibilities with the OOS interest in texas.... moreso than in previous years given the OOS interest. examples: QB - lacey seems in then less in, and then in again... keelon russell coming in for a visit as plan B or plan 1b?? pretty good qb in his own right.. 247 ranks him higher than lacey WR - we want DKM, and k johnson seems close to a lock at this po…

Following the impressive showings by AD Mitchell and Xavier in Indianapolis for the NFL Combine, the most recent Mock Drafts from the top NFL Draft experts have the resulted in three Longhorns going in the first round. Drove by the Frank Erwin Center today and wanted to share some photos of the controlled demolition in place to bring down the former home of Texas Hoops. A lot of memories from this arena which will be completely torn down by the summer months. Leads me to ask what your favorite moment was at the Erwin Center?

Chace Sims talks Texas offer Texas defensive line coach Kenny Baker's offer spree Tuesday included one of the best in the Houston area in 2025. Richmond (Texas) Randle defensive tackle Chace Sims began Tuesday with 13 offers, with LSU being the most recent February 24. Sims, 6-3 and 285 pounds, ended the day with one of the offers he has been waiting on. "Man, the Texas offer is big," Sims told OnTexasFootball Tuesday night. "Just like A&M and LSU, being from Texas it’s really big. Watching them on TV, I could always see myself playing there." The Randle High staff had been telling Sims to expect call from Kenny Baker for the last few days, and t…

Kenny Baker was busy Tuesday: Four new offers Texas defensive line coach Kenny Baker has begun the process of working to cast a national net in the 2025 cycle. When Baker was officially announced as defensive line coach January 30, there wasn't time to hit schools around the country and evaluate junior defensive linemen in person. Now that Baker is settled in and has had a number of recruiting/staff meetings, the evaluation process, new offers and work to get top targets on campus in March and April has begun. OnTexasFootball takes a Wednesday morning look at the four new offers made by the Longhorns Tuesday. Tuesday offers Stephon Shivers, Humbold…
