  3. My definition of “unmitigated success”: improvement from one season to the next. - Won 13 games this year, 12 last year - Beat all three of our rivals - Lost to 0 teams we “should have beat” this year (We lost to an inferior OU team last year; UGA or the teams left in the CFP are not inferior) - Even though we didn’t win our conference, we have beaten two P4 conference champions in the playoffs (including the champion of the conference we just left). Even if we lose the next game, it’s possible (and even likely) that we will be the only team to do that this season. Ohio State is the only other team with a shot to match- if they meet and beat UGA.

At what point does Sark pull Ewers. This is 2 weeks in a row everything in the first half has been absolute Trash. Can't blame the D, they gave them 2 extra possessions and the offense gave it right back. This is not good.

Coffee and Football peaked my interest when I heard Texas was talking to several players in the portal, but neither Gerry or Bobby could talk about it. I have no issues with Texas keeping these talks tight lipped until they close them. I have to think DTs are a priority. Clemson's DT, Washington State's DT, both are 6'2-6'3" and 305lbs. Not the size I thought they would go for, but they have experience. I read that Washington State DT was visiting a&m soon, assume he could swing by Austin before or after that. Do you guys have any speculation?

His 4 best games: Bama 2022 Bama 2023 OU 2022 OSU 2023 Nobody really expected anything from him. It was his second career start for Bama 2022, so no expectations. Bama 2023 no one expected us to win, so no real expectations of Quinn. OU 2022 he was coming off injury as freshman so no expectations. OSU 2023 played below average against Tech, so no expectations. His 6 worst games: Georgia 2024 OSU 2022 OU 2024 Wyoming 2023 Washington 2023 TCU 2022 Georgia 2024, everyone is talking about he’s vying for QB1 in draft with Beck, game is on his shoulders etc, huge expectations. OSU 2022…

  7. Some random CFB facts from the past week or so that I compiled for our OTF group chat. Thought I would share here as well: - Notre Dame’s win over Georgia was their first NY6 bowl win in 31 YEARS. - Georgia’s loss was their first non-SEC loss in six years. - Favorites in the CFP are now 8-0 straight up and 7-1 against the spread. Texas scraping by Arizona State is the 1. - Notre Dame is the first team ever to beat an AP-ranked opponent in 6 different months in the same season - For the first time ever, no Heisman semifinalist made the CFP semis - Ohio State has advanced through the CFP by an average winning margin of 22.5 points - The…

  8. During yesterday's (1/4/2025) Coffee and Football video, Bobby said that Sark doen't run short passes over the middle to stay away from tipped ball interceptions. Questions: Doesn't this take away 1/4 to 1/2 of the width of the field in the 1 to 10-15 yards downfield of the line of scrimmage? My pea-brain says that this reduces a tremendous potential coverage area for opposing LBs and DBs. (KC Chiefs sure seem to run a lot of plays like this.) Could this be a fertile area for 2-4 receivers crossing with potential to rub off (pick) a defender, run receivers at different depths, put more stress on defense. OTF commentators talk about "breaking ten…

  9. I'll be in Monterrey, MX on Friday. Any good places to watch the game?

  10. Alright Horns family...write it in blood. In 5 years, gimme a redraft of the qb's out of this class coming up. 1. Drew Ailar 2. Cam Ward 3. Jaxson Dart 4. Sheduer Sanders 5. Quinn Ewers 🤘🏿

  11. Looks to me like OSU has definetely juiced up after being pushed around by Michigan. They never have had a problem with ignoring the rules. Vitamin S ftw's !

I had no idea this was even a thing… how can a freshman who just signed a month ago enter the transfer portal? The wild Wild West is even wilder now, you can’t really count on anyone being anywhere.

  13. “I have had multiple discussions seeking clarity surrounding the targeting call on Arizona State's final drive of the 4th quarter with Richard Clark. Moving forward, we need to address CFP officiating to ensure national standards are developed. These standards will be crucial to the CFP's future, and I look forward to discussing them with my fellow committee members when we meet next.”

Several online comments out there about ASU out-coaching UT. From a big picture view, I would argue that winning coaches are not out-coached as a summary comment, even if the losing teach had in-game successes like shutting down the UT run game. You are what the final score says you are.

  15. I’m rewatching this ASU game and dude is thrashing ball carriers left and right. I have to believe he’ll be central to our success in stopping Henderson/Judkins, and setting the tone against OSU. Anyone else y’all can think of that needs to show up big here?

  16. It’s fun to see a Cinderella Story during each March Madness run, but in football, it’s great to have 4 True Blue Bloods at our first ever “Final 4” of the playoffs, especially when the Longhorn are 1 of the 4 with the longest odds of pulling off the upset. All 4 teams lived up to their pre-season hype. Any of the four can win it all. 18. I sat down with @CJ Vogel to give y'all some insight into the baseball team, as we're only 1.5 months away from opening day. From position battles to watch, who to expect on the mound and even a little recruiting info, we discuss it all. Then @Gerry Hamilton and I talk both men and women's hoops, as the Longhorns gear up for their conference schedule. We also drop a note on Aaliyah Chavez and where things currently stand with the nation's No. 1 player.

Texas just got a commitment from PWO QB CJ Rogers from Houston Christian University.

  21. A 2026 Junior Day invite of note The Texas Longhorns will hold a Junior Day on January 25. Javian Osborne (Forney, Texas/High) has already confirmed that date, and will very likely be in attendance. OnTexasFootball caught up with Carthage (Texas) High 2026 LB Daquives Beck Friday night, and he informed OTF that he has a January 25 Junior day invite as well. Beck, nearing 6-1 and 205-pounds, is in contact with Co-DC and linebackers coach Johnny Nansen weekly. Beck picked up an offer from Arkansas Friday. He now has 16 offers, including Texas, Texas A&M, Tennessee, Ole Miss, Missouri, Arkansas and Mississippi State out of the SEC. He reports that Arizon…

  22. Short question…probably a long answer needed. Are we tipping teams off with running game tendencies? Are we showing something that’s giving teams a heads up that the run is coming?
