The Black Eyed Peas made a song back when I was about six years old that just kept saying "And Runnin' Runnin', and runnin' runnin'" on and on and on. It was catchy as hell and one of the biggest songs of whatever year it was. Maybe 2004, I couldn't quite tell you off the top of my head. When I look at this Texas-Arizona State matchup, for whatever reason, that song comes to my brain. Because, well, that is exactly what Texas should do against the Sun Devils. It comes together even more full circle when the name of that song above is "Let's Get it Started" and then it all makes sense. Texas has figured out its running game against anyone not named Georgia. …

Sure Skattebo is good, but in the games ASU played, defenses were honest with Tyson out there in the last 4 full games he played often tripled the out of the next best receiver. Arizona - 8 receptions (next best 3); BYU - 9 (next best 3); KSU - 12 (next best was Skattebo with 4); UCF - 7 (next best 3) with less of a passing threat, Texas should be able to focus on Skattebo, and make ASU beat them with the pass.

Great piece here by ESPN on Michael Taaffe. “Why aren't you trying to go to Texas?" Sam Ehlinger, then the Longhorns' starting quarterback, asked Taaffe, who said he didn't even think it was an option. "You absolutely have the ability, you've just got to let them know you want it," Ehlinger responded. https://www.espn.com/college-football/story/_/id/43127933/michael-taaffe-walk-key-contributor-texas-defense-college-football-playoff

Texas is the only team in the CFP that has the potential opportunity to beat all power 4 champs: -ACC round one -Big12 quarterfinals -B1G semifinals -SEC finals (or best of the independents) Would be a cool accomplishment

Generally I’m pretty good at locating what I want on YouTube, but striking out on a full video of the Army All-American Game. I’d love to check out Elijah Bo Barnes, Townsend, and James Simon. Anyone have the link?

The teams we play next will be coming after him, particularly the winner of Oregon/tOSU if we get there. I’m worried about our defense next year if he’s the best CB we have coming back. Seems to have regressed a little from last season. Sophomore slump?

There is a continued dominance on first down. Having dug through stat after stat since the conclusion of the Clemson game on Saturday, this one remains one of my favorite that I keep returning to. Texas was elite on first downs offensively in round one of the College Football Playoff. It was one of their more complete performances of the year on first downs and it helped sustain drive after drive. Here are the main numbers from Steve Sarkisian's offense on first downs vs. Clemson. 33 first down snaps 253 yards 7.7 yards per first down snap Quinn Ewers was 10-12 passing on first downs for 124 yards or 10.2 yards per attempt, a real…

It’s basically a pick em in either scenario. In this model, Texas would be 1.5pt favorite against Oregon and a 1.5pt dog against the Buckeyes. https://www.on3.com/pro/news/college-football-playoff-odds-early-point-spreads-released-on-potential-cfp-semifinal-matchups/
