PWO QB Transfer

Texas just got a commitment from PWO QB CJ Rogers from Houston Christian University.

As a junior at Houston Christian Univ., he was 24-63 for 0 TDs and 2 INTs.

Sounds promising

I know Sark was looking for another QB to help with reps, scout team, etc but I have to admit I don’t know what he sees here (admittedly never having seen the kid play, just looking at his stats).

Cole Lourd replacement.

Lourd developed and became more than passable.

I wonder whatever became of Charles Wright?  🤔

Didn't he transfer back to Texas? I would guess he's done with football.

I don't think this guy is the answer, but the more I think about our roster going into next year, the more I do think we need a veteran transfer who can be a primary back up to arch. Our QB room is going to be very talented, but also very young and inexperienced. If arch goes down, we're left with a redshirt freshman with very few college reps. Getting a grad transfer QB with lots of starts would be a great addition to the roster.IMO.

And we nearly guarantee no experience for backup that might actually be a starter later,  and that is if the QBs (Trey Moore primarily) we recruited and put so many resources into doesn’t  transfer.  These kids aren’t just going to wait around at QB.  They want to play. We are getting a little arrogant with the portal IMO if we try that, it’s a balance. This is an emergency QB, and someone for reps.

You have to assume there will be teams trying to poach Owens off our roster. We should probably be happy having him as the backup next year.

No offense to Rogers but it’s clear that this is strictly scout team stuff unless the world ends in the QB room during the season.

Very true, but from his comments he seems really excited to be at Texas. He will be a motivated scout team quarterback trying to get the players better.
