Any SOS ranking that has Colorado’s SOS higher than Michigan State’s is only good for wiping your butt with. Take for example this one: https://www.teamrankings.com/college-football/ranking/schedule-strength-by-other Has Colorado’s SOS (“44th”) higher than Michigan State’s (“59th”). Colorado played 0 of the Big12’s top 3 teams. 6 of the Big12’s bottom 7 teams. One ranked team all season (KSU, lost). Their toughest OOC opponent was the Big10’s 13th best team (Neb, lost big). Played 0 teams that made the CFP. Meanwhile, Michigan State played 6 of the Big10’s best 7 teams (3 of which made the CFP). Truly egregious.

Back in the portal again... Denver Harris--recalling the staff spent a lot of time on his first recruitment. He's already down to 1 year left. I think on the long Arch manning TD run against UTSA, Harris had an angle to tackle near the goal line but too late. Wake Forest head coach Jake Dickert has nabbed Texas special assistant Scottie Hazelton off of the Texas coaching staff and named him the Demon Deacons new defensive coordinator. The move was rumored last week and made official earlier Friday morning. Hazelton had previously been a defensive coordinator at Kansas State and Michigan State before joining Steve Sarkisian's staff for the 2024 campaign. Best of luck to Coach Hazelton next fall.

We’ll see this coming week if the trend continues next week, but to this point the pretenders have been embarrassed on the playoff stage. I think there’s been an assumption that if the Tech’s, SMU’s, etc of the world that if they just make it to the playoffs that all of a sudden they’ll become legitimate contenders because they can build off of that playoff appearance. What the playoff has shown to date is that the 2nd tier teams aren’t even close to contending.
