On Texas Football Forum

A place where fellow Longhorns can discuss Texas Football, Sports and Recruiting with one another and the staff of On Texas Football.

  1. On Texas Football Forum · Started by No13Seed Jim,

Does Texas have any interest in Randle's RB Landen Willis-Vallis? He eats yardage and end zones.

  2. On Texas Football Forum · Started by drag worm,

is everything I hope Derek Cooper is for us next season. Great burst, great cutting ability, powerful when he makes contact. Might not have Cooper’s wheels either.

  3. Some tough instant replay calls that could have gone either way but I love how the ACC started making the instant replay officials mic’d up. Makes those couple of mins way more interesting to hear their actual thought process. A+ for transparency.

  4. Texas and 4-star+ Dre Quinn OTF broke the news that Texas was still going full steam at recent Clemson de-commit EDGE Dre Quinn (Buford, Ga./High) earlier this week. There is a strong level of confidence in the Longhorns probability to beat out Tennessee for the 6-foot-4, 228-pound pass rusher that will be a three-down player. Quinn has 26 tackles, 7 TFL's and 2 sacks in five games this season.

  5. Steve Sarkisian and his staff are on the recruiting trail this weekend. Some are headed far, some are staying close to home. A quick update thread on where the Texas staff will be headed this week.

  6. Per a family member, the 4-star++ QB out of Palestine Westwood is scheduled to visit Texas September 20 for the night game vs Sam Houston State And the RRS is also likely. And of course, A&M game (schedule dependent) Junior game one HUDL: http://www.hudl.com/v/2SZ9ud

  9. The Cal transfer now at Indiana impressed last year in some late night games. At Indiana this season, he's playing on a total other level Vs. Illinois yesterday: 21 of 23 for 267 yards and 5 TD's last week vs. Indiana State (yes bad team): 19 of 20 for 270 yards and 5 TD's I don't care if you are playing against Hemphill High and Hardin High in back-to-back games, 40 of 43 is a wild number over a two game stretch. Through four games: 76 of 99 for 975 yards and 14 TD's with 0 INT's Indiana is a better team this season, but doesn't mean they will make playoffs. At Oregon and at Penn State loom ... so they have to avoid an upset around those two.

  10. Steve and Sarkisian and Kyle Flood in H'town today and Friday Steve Sarkisian and Kyle Flood are currently at Kingwood High practice to see 2027 OT Kennedy Brown. He's expected to by Klein High Friday to see 4-star+ IOL commit Nicholas Robertson as well.

  12. New 2026 basketball offer today Sean Miller and staff extended an offer to Blair Academy (originally from Austin) 6-foot-10 big man Coleman Elkins today. This offer is the first by Miller and staff taking advantage of the 14th and 15th scholarship spots on rosters now. Elkins, should he pick Texas, would be a pure developmental player that would be another big body in practice for a couple of years and see where it goes. Elkins has a few low and mid-major offers. Those are Indiana State, Maine, Northeastern, Manhattan, Lehigh and LeMoyne.

  14. Bye week, and I’m already twitching without Texas football. No Arch Manning grimaces to nitpick, no Sark play-calls to roast—just me stuck watching everyone else’s drama. At least there are still some heavyweight games to keep me entertained: Georgia–Alabama in the SEC and Ohio State–Penn State in the Big Ten should both be slugfests. Meanwhile, I’ll laugh at the Aggies doing Aggie things and ignore the OU fans—since they’ve got no game to lose this week, they’ll just be on Twitter convincing themselves Texas is nothing but a media creation—like the press is secretly holding weekly hype meetings in Austin.

gonna be spending Thanksgiving in NYC and looking for best place to watch A&M game with fellow Longhorns. Have seen Stout NYC and Continental Sports Lounge mentioned online. Would appreciate any recommendations. Hook’em!

  16. The Texas offense didn’t resolve all of its issues in last Saturday’s 55-0 win over Sam Houston. Still, getting DeAndre Moore Jr. back from injury went a long way toward helping the Longhorns cultivate an offensive identity heading into SEC play. A player that Steve Sarkisian said on Monday is “part of our personality,” Moore returned to action following an injury sustained during the team’s 38-7 win over San Jose State on Sept. 6, which caused him to miss the 27-10 win over UTEP on Sept. 13, with a five-catch, 79-yard effort in the victory, closing out the team's non-conference schedule with a bang. Moore's five receptions came on five targets, showing his valu…

  17. All - Since we are in an off-week, I was hopeful that we could get a good discussion going about Coach Miller and his impact on our Mens Basketball team. When Xavier defeated us last year, I wished then that we could steal this coach - the wrongdoing is water under the bridge, and IMHO he is a heck of a coach. Nothing against previous coaches, just saying it should be real fun. P🤘

  18. In college football, waiting is losing. UCLA and Oklahoma State proved that this fall when they pulled the trigger midseason, and it wasn’t panic—it was strategy. Fire early and you lock down your roster, open a portal window when rivals aren’t paying attention, and buy months to line up your next hire. You also send a clear message to recruits and boosters that standards still matter. Drag it out, and all you get is uncertainty. The programs that act first stabilize fastest, while the ones that hesitate watch the ground shift under them. In today’s game, early firings aren’t desperation moves—they’re the new playbook.

Florida head coach Billy Napier says QB DJ Lagway is "100%" as of Wednesday during his time on the weekly SEC Teleconference. The UF QB was in a boot following the Gators' loss this weekend to Miami. However, Napier says the boot was due to the sophomore quarterback being stepped on in the game and that he "is fine" at the moment. Florida is idle this week, then will host the Longhorns on October 4 in Gainesville.

  20. View from the Cheap Seats-Sam Houston State Slumpbuster When we reviewed the preseason schedule, this game was circled as essentially meaningless, glorified scrimmage against a former FCS power that was struggling badly with the transition to D1 football. Not sure anyone had “season salvaging game” on their bingo card, certainly not the Cheap Seats. After 3 weeks of struggles and lackluster performances by the TEXAS offense and Arch Manning, this game might be what salvages the season. We believe the Texas offense and Arch’s #1 problem was trying to live up to the absurd pre-season hype as National title contenders and Heisman favorit…

  21. On Texas Football Forum · Started by No13Seed Jim,

On Texas' 2027 FB schedule, there are only 2 contracted out-of-conference games, so far. I'd love to see a mid-level P4 school like NC St or Wake or Cal or Stanford fill the hole. As home game for us. Any thoughts? [NO Texas Tech or Houston]
