The Texas Longhorns have landed a commitment from Kansas State transfer power forward Arthur Kaluma. Kaluma, 6-7 and 225 pounds, has played three season of high-major basketball. He played at Creighton for two seasons before transferring to Kansas State for the 2023-24 season. He's also tested the NBA Draft waters, before returning to college. Ruston (La.) High and 4-star CB Aidan Anding told OTF Thursday evening that he is likely to announce his decision Monday, July 1. That is a change from original plan to announce Saturday. Stewart, 6-0 and 175 pounds, committed to the Longhorns over offers from Alabama, Tennessee, Florida, Michigan, Oklahoma and 10 others. Stewart has been a target of Chris Jackson since being offered by the Longhorns December 8, 2023. The Houston area prospect returned to Texas June 1 for Elite Camp. Texas landed a commitment from Penn pitcher Eli Trop. The 6-foot-4, 225-pound RHP has one year of eligibility remaining. Trop has a 3.07 career ERA, along with 82 strikeouts during those three years. This has been in the works for quite some time, but I’ve sat on it out of respect for Trop. He originally committed in the fall, as Ivy Leagues don’t allow a fifth year. So he entered his name into the portal in October.

The University of Texas will have a new baseball coach heading into the SEC for the 2025 season. Head coach David Pierce will not return following eight seasons in charge. Pierce accumulated a record of 297–162 while leading the Longhorns, including three trips to Omaha for the College World Series and regular season Big 12 titles in 2018, 2021 and 2023. I'm told that Steve Sarkisian is expected to add long-time college recruiting coordinator and professional scout Bill Rees to his football staff. The exact role Rees will have with the team is unclear. Sarkisian re-tooled his off-field support staff this off-season following the departure of former GM Billy Glasscock to Ole Miss.
