Hook ‘Em! Texas is back on the board with its third commitment of the month of July with the verbal pledge from 2025 North Crowley LB Jonathan Cunningham. The Longhorns beat out TCU and Utah for the 6-foot-2 linebacker. After offering back in February, the Longhorns quickly ascended to the top of Cunningham’s recruitment. TCU and the Utes made this very close towards the end, however, Texas and Johnny Nansen came away victorious. Cunningham becomes the 14th prospect to commit to the Longhorns in the class of 2025 and joins Elijah Bo Barnes as the two linebackers in the class. View full news story

Later today, Gerry, CJ, John, our intern, Cody and myself will meet in Dallas for SEC Media Days. This is nothing like the old Big 12 media days where 200 or so media members convened. This will be closer to 1,000+ to meet and visit with all 16 SEC coaches and 48 different players. It’s also a chance to speak with the conference commissioner, rules officials and more. The Texas One Fund has made history with a new brand partnership announced Thursday. Texas One Fund announced a collaboration with the Passes, a creator monetization platform, for 40 of the top male and female athletes currently residing on The 40 Acres. Passes made headlines earlier this spring with the signing for LSU gymnast and social media star Livvy Dunne to a reported multi-million dollar and now The University of Texas joins the fold as the first collective to join the platform. With the news of Josiah Sharma and Myron Charles selecting other schools, it puts the Longhorns in a precarious position at defensive tackle recruiting in the 2025 class. Texas, ideally, wanted 3-4 prospects at the position in the 2025 recruiting class. But the Horns only brought in five players for official visits. Three of those are now officially off the board, leaving only Brandon Brown and DJ Sanders. I've read way too much bs over the last 24 hours. Texas got beat on a recruit. Yes. Was it a tough loss? Absolutely. Have there been others, too? Yes, it hasn't been the first or even second time in the last couple of weeks. There may even be another today and more tomorrow. I get the frustration. I understand it. I truly do. Texas is back on the board! The Longhorns earned a commitment from 2025 Hightower DB Kade Phillips Saturday evening. Phillips has long been a priority for the Texas staff since being offered in February. Phillips officially visited Texas during the June 21–23 weekend and the reports OTF received were very positive for the Longhorns. Texas is back up to 13 commits in the class with Phillips becoming the first safety in the fold. Phillips also joins Caleb Chester in the 2025 class for the secondary.
