Texas will receive a visit from 2025 (Folsom, Calif.) defensive tackle Josiah Sharma in March. I traded messages with Sharma last night who mentioned a trip to Austin is likely to occur following the conclusion of the non-contact window. It is our understanding Texas will have a junior day-type visit weekend set up for the weekend of March 22. The 6-foot-5 and 300-pound defensive tackle was offered by Texas on February 1 following an on-campus visit from Johnny Nansen. Shama was also mentioned in Gerry's best-case scenario class published on Monday. View full news

Texas Best Class Scenario: February 5 The Texas Longhorns 2025 class is currently ranked inside the top 10 with a handful of commitments. Steve Sarkisian and staff hosted Junior Day January 20, and spent the month of January evaluating the 2025 class with more offers extended. With the calendar turning to February, OnTexasFootball takes a first look at the 2025 Best Class Scenario. The number of players listed at 28, with a combination of 22-24 of this group a lock to be a fourth straight top 10 class. Important to note, this list of prospects will change as Texas moves along in the 2025 cycle. Quarterback (1) K.J. Lacey, Saraland (Ala.) …

y’all think the crowd for the Georgia game will top the crowd from the Alabama game in 2022? Potentially could be a #1 vs #2 matchup. When’s the last time that happened at DKR?

Four-star LB Gavin Nix talks Texas One of the surprise visitors at Texas Junior Day January 20 was inside linebacker Gavin Nix (Orlando, Fla./IMG Academy). Nix, 6-0 and 220 pounds, was offered by the Longhorns March 2nd of 2023. Since that time, it's been area recruiter Tashard Choice keeping the line of communication open. That meant a visit to Texas January 20 was a first real interaction with the entire staff. "It was great (visit)," Nix told OnTexasFootball Monday. "It was my first time being at Texas. I loved the new linebacker coach. Super smart dude that taught me a lot in a little time. Coach Choice, I’m close to because he recruited Jerrick…

I continue to be told that both Brandon Harris, currently the director of recruiting, and John Michael Jones, the assistant director of player personnel, are expected to be elevated. Harris is likely to become the team’s general manager or whatever terminology Steve Sarkisian opts to call it, a role which was expected to be held by Billy Glasscock prior to his move to Ole Miss last week. Harris has been a steady, trusted force in the recruiting department for the Longhorns under Sark. Jones is expected to become the director of player personnel. Jones has been a behind-the-scenes figure for Texas for several years. The team’s successful walk-on program can be pa…

Three of the five commits in the 2025 class currently live outside the state lines of Texas. As a result of the Longhorns finding some very talented early prospects from around the country, they will now be tasked with holding onto those verbal pledges as schools around the corner look to crack that door open any way they can. TE Emaree Winston was at UCF this weekend where Gus Malzahn made it a point to spend time with him during their trip together to the Knights' basketball game. DL Brandon Brown was with his 7-on-7 team at USC over the weekend as well for a quick unofficial visit. Fortunately for Texas, that same 7-on-7 team will be in the Austin area in a l…

Spoke with Galveston (Texas) Ball High 5-star safety Jonah Williams Friday afternoon. Williams, 6-3 and 204 pounds, is currently helping lead Ball High to a district title in basketball before shifting focus to baseball. Obviously, baseball is impactful in his recruitment. Texas head coach Steve Sarkisian and safeties coach/area recruiter Blake Gideon were at Ball High two weeks ago. They met with Williams and his father. Sarkisian's message was simple. “It went great," Williams told OnTexasFootball Friday. "They moved me back to the safety room. They talked about with Coach Choate leaving that they are moving me back to the safety room. He had a great ta…

Jasper (Texas) High tight end Kiotti Armstrong is among the top offensive targets for Texas in the 2025 cycle. Armstrong, 6-foot-5 and 250 pounds, attended Texas Junior Day January 20. He also received a school visit from head coach Steve Sarkisian and tight ends coach Jeff Banks in January. “Coach Sark told me to go out there and handle my business,” Armstrong said today. “And keep developing.” Former Jasper High teammate and good friend Tyanthony Smith has had a strong message for Armstrong since getting settled in at Texas. “He likes it a lot,” Armstrong said. “He told me Texas is where he needs to be.” Texas A&M Junior Day visit Ar…

Monday Morning Recruiting Nuggets The Texas Longhorns staff is coming off an extremely busy couple of months on the recruiting front. January brought a Junior Day with around 150 combined prospects in the 2025 and 2026 classes in Austin. The staff wrapped up the month with a number of new offers being made in 2025 and 2026, mostly out of state. OnTexasFootball gets the week going with some Monday morning recruiting nuggets. Recruitments Texas can win Rickey Stewart, RB, Tyler (Texas) Chapel Hill The Longhorns offered the one-time SMU verbal January 20 at Junior Day. Texas can win this one with a big push, and Steve Sarkisian was by Ch…
