On Texas Football Forum

A place where fellow Longhorns can discuss Texas Football, Sports and Recruiting with one another and the staff of On Texas Football.

  1. Michigan defensive line coach Mike Elston is headed to the NFL. A big piece of the Wolverines success from a year ago was the work of their defensive line. Just as importantly for the Longhorns who play Michigan in Ann Arbor the second game of the upcoming season, the Wolverines' DL was supposed to be a strength of their 2024 team. That may have hit a bit of a snag Tuesday afternoon as word out of Jim Harbaugh’s LA Chargers camp leaked that Elston will be making the leap to the Pros. Michigan did not have any roster attrition of note after the first round of its coaches departing to Los Angeles. However, with Elston now leaving, it makes things…

  3. Lufkin, Texas - Steve Sarkisian made stops at a number of schools in January to see top targets in the 2025 cycle. One of those stops was Lufkin High. OnTexasFootball 4-star defensive tackle Zion Williams has been a top target of the Longhorns on the defensive front for more than a year. Williams, who is 6-foot-4 and 320 pounds with an 80+inch wing span and a size 18 shoe, attended the Texas mauling of Texas Tech in November. At that time, it was then-defensive line coach Bo Davis who was in contact the most with Williams. That means January was the first time for Williams to have a meaningful conversation with Sarkisian. “Coach Sarkisian came thro…

  4. Been looking around, cant find anything. Hopefully there will be a YouTube replay soon.

  5. OnTexasFootball dishes up some recruiting nuggets to go with your Tuesday morning Coffee and Football. Dorian Brew, CB, Conroe (Texas) High OnTexasFootball spoke with a person close to the recruitment of the 6-foot-1.5, 190-pound cornerback Monday. A big question surrounding Brew's recruitment was if the Ohio State Buckeyes have slipped with commitments from 5-star corners Devin Sanchez (Houston/North Shore) and Na'eem Offord (Birmingham, Ala./Parker). That answer was not as much as some would believe according to the source. Ohio State remains in contention, as of last weekend. Texas is definitely one of those teams squarely in the mix. Brew attended Tex…

  6. The Texas Longhorns will end the February signing period with a third straight top 6 ranked class in the recruiting industry. The Longhorns inked the No. 5 ranked class in 2022, No. 3 in 2023 and No. 6 in the 2024 cycle. Texas fans have seen plenty of changes on the recruiting trail under Steve Sarkisian and staff ahead of the move to the SEC. There has been a concerted effort to recruit nationally, with a focus on the Southeast Region and the West Coast. OnTexasFootball breaks down the trio of top 6 classes by the states, regions of Texas and positions. Prospects Signed (75) 2022 Class - 28 2023 Class - 25 2024 Class - 22 Prospects from in…

  8. Since this is a new site I thought it would be good time to chat about the logo being used for On Texas Football. I think a better representation of the site and youtube channel can be used. I think the current logo is a good beginner logo but as the site continues to grow I like to offer one of these as an updated solution. Thoughts? @Gerry Hamilton @Bobby Burton @Rod Babers @CJ VogelLogos OnTexasFootball.pptx

  9. On this morning’s Coffee and Football the topic of HS players reclassifying in order to get on campus a year earlier was discussed. While Gerry seemed to generally favor it, except in the case of QBs. On the other hand, Bobby and CJ were generally opposed to the idea except for the very rare case. The argument of whether it was better for a stud receiver like R. Williams to dominate HS as opposed to getting on campus and start a college weight training program was insightful. Gerry saw it as a development year which would be beneficial. However, my question is should colleges encourage it? Take Quinn for example (I think most would agree for a QB reclassifying i…

  10. Three full classes are in the books now for Steve Sarkisian as the head coach of the Texas Longhorns. A top six finish continues the trend of elite recruiting here for the Longhorns as well, in which Texas went out of state a bit more this season to get the core of their class. This is a bit of a new feature for most of the audience here, however I have done this for the past four seasons with the predictions being anywhere from spot on to couldn’t be further off. I will post the results of previous classes in the comments, dating back to 2020. Without further ado, let’s dive into the categories. I divide my rankings into four categories. The boundaries fo…

Which stadium are y'all most excited to go to in the future for games? I can't wait for the opportunity to see the Swamp at night and for the excuse to play some Florida golf in the fall. Also saw that Georgia voted to allow alcohol sales in the stadium so that would be fun too!

  16. Today in part two of the In The Pipeline series, we will cover the pass catchers on the Texas roster in 2024 and beyond. Of course, a lot has happened in these two position rooms since the end of the season and by all means, I am expecting the wide receivers to remain a strength of the Texas program. A quick look at the current state of each room for 2024 and beyond: Wide Receiver On Roster: Silas Bond, Isaiah Bond, Matthew Golden, Johntay Cook, DeAndre Moore, Ryan Niblett, Freddie Dubose, Ryan Wingo, Parker Livingstone, Aaron Butler Coming Soon: We will see. 21. Former five-star North Shore cornerback Denver Harris has found a new home. After stops at Texas A&M and LSU, Harris finds himself back on the schedule for the Texas Longhorns in 2024, this time as a member of Jeff Traylor's UTSA program. An interesting storyline for when the two teams meet up September 14. View full news

read an article where tashard choice compared jaydon blue to jahmyr Gibbs. I just got to thinking about our running backs : 1- Can blue do anything to take over RB1 reps ahead of Baxter ? 2-who should get the bulk of the carries this year? 3- could Baxter and blue be a better combo than Bijan/Roschon ?
