Texas is expected to be a key player in his recruitment. The Longhorns offered him a scholarship on Jan. 20, the program's first Junior Day of the new recruiting cycle. Stewart rushed for 2,855 yards and 40 TDs last season, averaging more than 10 yards per carry. View full news

As @Bobby Burton wrote earlier, linebackers coach Johnny Nansen is out in California seeing prospects. He isn't the only one, however, as Texas safeties coach Blake Gideon is in Arizona today as well. Gideon stopped by Desert Edge High School in Goodyear, Ariz., as they have a couple of prospects on the Horns' radar. The one garnering the most attention is cornerback Jamar Beal-Goines. The 6-foot, 170-pound defender holds offers from quite a few schools including USC, Oregon, Utah, Washington, Texas A&M, Michigan State and more. 17. New Texas defensive line coach Kenny Baker was on the road yesterday for the first time as a Longhorns assistant. He made the rounds in Houston. As has been reported, Baker visited Cy Fair's Landon Rink. Rink's father Shane played for the Longhorns. On Texas Football has learned that Baker also took the time to go see Spring defensive lineman Floyd Guidry. Both players have offers from the Horns and both were in Austin for the program's junior day January 20. ** Just because his father played for the Longhorns, some assume Rink's recruitment is a foregone conclusion for the Horns. That is not necessarily the case. While Texas holds a special …

Texas continues their path to creating a deeper footprint in the south and into Florida.

  21. This will be one to watch. 2025 Chapel Hill RB Rickey Stewart has announced his recruitment has re-opened after previously being a member of the SMU class. Texas hosted the Chapel Hill running back for the Longhorns' Junior Day on January 20 where Stewart received his Texas offer. Stewart recounted the moment as one he will never forget. "It was an experience that I had never felt before," Stewart said after receiving the Texas offer. The visit to Austin made a monumental impact on the recruitment of Stewart.
