The Longhorns remain in the hunt to find their top quarterback prospects for the 2026 cycle. 

Steve Sarkisian extended an offer to 2026 Mission Hills (CA) quarterback Troy Huhn late Wednesday night. 

Huhn is a very fun prospect on film. He also brings a great frame for a quarterback at 6-foot-4.

A QB needs to be evaluated on the entire tape and not just the positive plays, but the anticipation is phenomenal on some of those throws. He really places the ball where the receiver will be in a few strides rather than making the receiver adjust to his throw. Appears to have a very high upside. Thanks for the update!

Well said, Ray! This throw here was one that really caught my eye. Sarkisian talks about guys that can throw the football, Huhn can throw the football.

While this kid looks to have talent, I think Texas needs to focus more on winning recruiting in state.

While we had an incredible 2023 CFP run, we haven’t pulled away (yet) from the other programs in terms of fencing off the state of TX to dominate HS recruiting.

2024 Top 50 HS Recruits from the state of Texas (per On3): Texas - 7, OU - 6, A&M - 6, LSU - 5, Tech - 5. 

Takeaway: While we had the most recruits (7) in the top 50 in state, Texas Tech also had 5 and OU/A&M had 6 each, meaning we haven’t pulled way ahead yet in terms of in state dominance in recruiting.

In 2009, coming off a national championship appearance, UT had 12 of the top 50 Texas HS players (including most of the top 10) - that was dominance in terms of in state recruiting. 

It’s great that Sark has CA connections and UT can now recruit nationally well, but I think we will need to dominate Texas HS recruiting like in the early 2000s if we are truly going to be “back” for the long run, especially as we enter the SEC.

"Fencing off the state" is a futile project.  It is the best practice to get the best skilled young men who buy into the culture and want to win at Texas.

It would be nice to be able to mainly focus on Texas kids but that's not how recruiting works nowadays. Every big program recruits the state, some kids just want to play some place other than in the state of Texas (see LaMichael James), and we also can't wait on a Texas kid that wants to flirt with other programs just stringing us along Aeryn Hampton showed us how that ends for us just this past recruiting cycle.
