On Texas Football Forum

A place where fellow Longhorns can discuss Texas Football, Sports and Recruiting with one another and the staff of On Texas Football.

  1. Yesterday the No. 24 ranked Longhorns made the trip to Lubbock, which saw them demolish No. 17 Texas Tech last night 22-8 in the first game of the series. One person who didn’t make that trip, however, was assistant/1st base coach Philip Miller. While there are reports out there that he is taking a leave of absence, On Texas Football does not expect Miller to return. Expect an internal promotion to fulfill this role.

  2. A dozen Texas targets that will be national and rivalry battles The Texas Longhorns will compete in more national recruiting and regional rivalry battles in the 2025 cycle than ever before. Some of that is Texas continuing to expand the national recruiting footprint, and some of it is the top tier national talent in state at several positions. OnTexasFootball looks at a dozen recruiting battles in the 2025 cycle that will cover both scenarios. Michael Fasusi, OT, Lewisville (Texas) High The OnTexasFootball 5-star left tackle will be one of the key recruiting battles for Texas in the cycle. Is Fasusi a "must win"? Nope, not with John Turntine III rig…

  10. Of the 31 recruits currently slated to make official visits in June, here is the position breakdown: QB - 1 RB - 1 WR - 7 TE - 3 OL - 7 DL - 5 LB - 3 DB - 4 The Horns actually have more than 31 official visitors lined up, but 31 is the current public number. For example, running back Jordon Davison of Santa Ana (Calif.) Mater Dei and receiver DK Moore of Duncanville are both expected to visit but have yet to announce their specific dates, so they are not included in the total number as yet. ** How many scholarships will Texas use this year? It depends on roster attrition, some to the NFL and some to the transfer …

  13. California 4-star EDGE locks in Texas official visit The Texas Longhorns in the Steve Sarkisian era will have a strong recruiting footprint in the state of California. And the 2025 cycle may end up defining that more than any other since Sarkisian has been in Austin. On Monday, 4-star EDGE Hayden Lowe (Westlake Village, Calif./Oaks Christian) told OnTexasFootball that he has a pair of visits to Texas set up, including an official visit in June. Lowe, 6-4 and 240, told OTF that he will be in Austin April 6 for the big visit weekend around Texas spring practice. And that will be the first of two visits. The Oaks Christian standout defender also inform…

  15. Nice new deal for a former Texas Longhorn defensive back! The Denver Broncos and DB Brandon Jones have agreed to 3-year deal worth $20M according to Jordan Schultz. Three former Longhorn defensive backs are now on roster for the Broncos – PJ Locke, Caden Sterns and now Jones. Quite the trio!

  16. Why is KJ Lacy not getting the love from the recruiting sites? He's ranked anywhere from 110 to 141? On 24/7 he is the number 14 ranked quarterback in the 2025 class? Whereas the kid from duncanville is top 50? Steve Sarkisian see something in him that the ranking services do not? And how would you compare the kid from duncanville versus KJ Lacy? I think there are 3 Texas kids ranked higher than KJ.

  17. R.I.P. to this young man and prayers and condolences out to his family and friends.

  22. Texas 2025 Best Class Scenario: March 5 edition The Texas Longhorns are in search of a fourth straight top 5 ranked recruiting class. And if the early returns headed into the spring mean anything, the odds are at least 50-50% Steve Sarkisian and staff pull it off. To get your Friday going, here is the latest edition of the Texas Best Class Scenario for the 2025 cycle. There are 29 names currently on the list with a combination of 24-25 creating a near lock scenario for a fourth straight top 5 class. This list will shift and move once the March and April unofficial visitor returns are known. *Note: This list is my opinion on the BCS for 2025. Quarterba…
