On Texas Football Forum

A place where fellow Longhorns can discuss Texas Football, Sports and Recruiting with one another and the staff of On Texas Football.

  1. I think the message boards, comment sections, and even the guys are mistaken about Jaydon Blue’s ceiling as an inside zone runner. It’s not like he was getting arm tackled left and right last year. He has very thick legs, and you didn’t see Jonathan Brooks, the best inside zone runner in college football last year, blowing up linebackers in the hole. Inside zone is about acceleration through the hole and running through arm tackles, and I think he’s elite at one and pretty damn good at the other.

Put some respect on his name. In all seriousness he’s no slouch. He’s waited patiently behind 3 NFL running backs. My gut says at the end of the season we are all looking back in amazement at what he will accomplish.

  3. D.J. Sanders Update: Wednesday There has been some questions of when the Bellville (Texas) High defensive lineman D.J. Sanders will announce his decision. OTF was told again a few minutes ago that it's going to be on Thursday night, the 8th. The announcement will be via social media around midnight. Texas, Texas A&M and Michigan are the finalists. There is some cautious optimism with Texas. But I will reiterate, this is a wildcard recruitment.

  4. With the unfortunate injury to CJ Baxter we know the offensive gameplan is gonna be tweaked. Could we see Texas lean more pass heavy on offense this year? With the amount of talent at WR and a 3 year QB it may be necessary. also, do we think Texas has a guy on the roster that could make an emergency move to RB if the situation arises? Like Gerry said earlier chances are other RBs will get banged up throughout the year and numbers seem thin in that room all of a sudden

Thou LHN had issues in showing some of the dumbest games over and over it also did have some great content in showing specials in the football championship as well as volleyball & title 9 to give a few examples. LHN also showed timely news conferences and specials in our various sports that I enjoyed so was curious to know that besides longhorn lounge showing conferences (thou not timely) do we have any other avenues to look forward to this sports year for timely video content?

I’m not saying it’s a great idea, but if Sark ever needs a crazy curveball to get the offense going we have the personnel to implement a 23 personnel package that starburst motions into an empty package that would confound defensive coordinators.

  7. Guessing he will be.

@Gerry Hamilton With Brooks now moving his commitment time line into August and with the move back to Georgia, do you think that he might be thinking of picking Georgia to secure a spot for himself?

  11. MRI will reveal if OU has lost one of their top 5 WR's for the season. Sunshine State junior Jayden Gibson caught 15 for 387 yards and 5 TD's in 2023. https://www.si.com/college/oklahoma/report-oklahoma-wide-receiver-injured-during-practice-01j4ndjr240g

  13. I wanted to make this post because I love when @Bobby Burton did this last year & believe he said he would do it this year as well. But since I’ve been thinking about just how talented this team is, I wanted to create my own list of players on the current roster who I think will end up being on a NFL roster after their college careers are over. I will sort them by position & tally the number at the end. QB: (3) Ewers (Jr), Manning (R-Fr), Owens (Fr) RB: (5) Baxter (So), Blue (Jr), Wisner (So), Clark (Fr), Gibson (Fr) - I’m most doubtful on Gibson long term but I think he will make a roster one day. WR: (7) Cook (So), Moore (So), Bond (Jr), Wingo (Fr…

  15. China Springs 2025 catcher/first baseman Dean Hannah announced he has decommitted from Texas. This coaching staff wasn’t surprised by this at all and I would describe it as a mutual parting of ways. Hannah has an 8.5 Perfect Game grade.

  16. https://www.si.com/college/florida/florida-gators-suffer-injury-blow-in-backfield-01j4cy5s6n28 status is week-to-week. not sure if this affects us, but at the very least it may hurt florida's chances in their earlier games prior to playing Texas.

  17. Why do we have a conference championship game (CG)? The winner will get a "first 4" pass. BUT the loser goes into the "eight team pool". The Loser of the CG must turn around and play the next week versus a team that has had at least one week off. The Loser is of the CG is coming off of an emotional investment and will be on the down slide emotionally. It seems to me that unless a team is damn sure of winning the CG, a better strategy would be to finish third. Yes, there will be seeding, but is there that much difference between 5 vs 12.

Who have you seen that is a comp for Silas Boldin? I'd go with someone like Trindon Holliday out of LSU. Tho Boldin may be a bit quicker but Holiday a bit faster top end.
