Yesterday afternoon, Senate Majority Leader John Thune (R-S.D.) said he did not believe the Save College Sports Act would get any time on the senate floor prior to the mid-term elections. TAMPA, Fla. — Texas finished the 2025 season at No. 132 in the country in penalty yardage per game. For reference that’s out of 136 eligible teams. It’s a stat Alabama proved can be turned around in just one offseason, as the Crimson Tide made a roughly 100-spot jump from 2024 to 2025, finishing last season at No. 17 in nation. Five-star cornerback and Texas commit John Meredith III has reclassified to 2026 and will join the Longhorns this fall, OnTexasFootball has learned. He’s now part of a 26-man high school class the Longhorns signed that ranked No. 7 in the country. It’s remains unknown where Meredith’s ranking will place after the move, but the 6-foot-2, 175-pounder is considered one of the top prospects regardless of class. Torre Becton's Conditioning Program Continues to Push Competition *** Each and every offseason you hear about a change in the throughout the course of the months waiting for football to occur. A common theme that maybe isn't exactly new, but certainly emphasized more in 2026 is the desire for the competitive spirit to drive workouts in the summer. According to a source, the court is granting the TRO and setting an Injunction hearing. So, Hutson has prevailed in the first part of the process. I listened to Mike Elko and Marcel Reed today. And I talked at length with Billy Liucci. On paper, I think the Aggie schedule is conducive to a 9- or 10-win season. It’s about as easy as you’ll find in the SEC. Do the Aggies have the horses to pull it off? They’ll be good enough on defense. We reported yesterday afternoon that Cole Hutson has been approved for a temporary restraining order to move forward with his suit against the NCAA and its application of the 5-for-5 rule. Hutson, once he receives the actual order itself from the judge today, can then provide it to Texas and begin resuming football activities immediately. In other words, the judge ruled yesterday in favor of Hutson. Now Hutson and his representation must wait for the judge to write the order. ** Interestingly, Hutson's and Colorado DL Ezra Christensen's suits against the NCAA are similarly situated. TAMPA, Fla. — Something caught my ear this morning hearing from Alabama head coach Kalen DeBoer. The Crimson Tide went from No. 123 in the country in 2024 in penalty yardage per game (69.1) to No. 17 in 2025 (39.7).
