  1. With fall camp less than a week away, for this weekend’s OTF Sideline Debate we take a look at the player we’re each most excited about to see on Day 1 of practice. Here’s our responses: Bobby Burton — Emmett Mosley V With what we’ve been hearing from behind the scenes, Emmett Mosley V intrigues me as much or more than anyone on the roster. We’re not just hearing “good things” about him but there’s talk of him taking yet another step to possibly become an elite receiver. I’m interested to see what an entirely healthy Mosley looks like in comparison to Cam Coleman and Ryan Wingo. Gerry Hamilton — Justus Terry The player I’m looking forward to …

  4. According to a court order, the hearing date for Cole Hutson has been moved to Aug. 10 from Aug. 3. Hutson, who is seeking a fifth year of eligibility, can practice with the team under a TRO against the NCAA. Texas begins fall camp on Aug. 5. It will be interesting to see how all of this transpires but it continues to trend in a positive direction for Hutson and the Horns. View full news story

  5. Happy Friday! *** Fall camp is almost here, but the weekend is closer. Before we get to indulge in the beauty that is fall practice reports, let's recap updates from summer workouts. Summer conditioning wrapped up this week, and several players have left Austin for one final getaway before the season begins, or a trip back home to see family for the weekend. While we enjoy the weekend and eagerly await the beginning of camp, I wanted to run through some summer superlatives. *** Undisputed Leaders Offense: QB Arch Manning No surprise here, Manning has been the face of the program and has shouldered that burden from day one as a start…

  6. Texas opens fall camp next week ahead of one of the most anticipated Longhorns football seasons that I can remember. Here are five questions for fall camp. These aren't the only five questions, but five of the most important that Jeff Howe and I came up with. 1.) Who emerges as LG1? The position battle everyone is watching closest this fall. The Longhorns have a wealth of options to choose from, but who will emerge out of Laurence Seymore, Cole Hutson, Jaydon Chatman, etc.? TBD. Texas needs to be better on the interior in 2026 if it wants to reach its goals. Finding its best five on the offensive line before the halfway point of the season is critical. …

  8. With the Protect College Sports Act headed for the trash heap, it’s time to ponder what the future of college football will look like in the coming years. Will the SEC and Big 10 break away and create their own set of rules? I think that’s where this is headed. And I believe that’s where it should head absent federal law. But, I’ll take it a step further. I think logic dictates that it may also be time to look at a football-basketball only breakaway. Those are the two sports driving 95-97pct of athletic department revenue. So why are we trying to shoe-horn every other sport into the same bucket? I think that’s where this whole thing gets mess…

  10. We won’t have to wait long for the Texas Longhorns next marquee home matchup. Saturday marks 5 weeks from the season opener vs. Texas State, and 6 weeks from the one everyone has been waiting for since the clock hit zero in the Citrus Bowl: Ohio State. Under Steve Sarkisian, few, if any programs have done a better job of loading up the visitor list and taking advantage of a top-tier home game weekend. In 2022 when Alabama came to town, Trevor Goosby, Kobe Black, Ryan Niblett, Zina Umeozulu, and plenty of other future Longhorns were all in attendance as uncommitted prospects watching Texas hold their own vs. big bad Alabama in year two of the Sark era. It’s …

  11. Another day, another congressional deadline that is going to go unheeded. This time, the senate aides finished the proposed bill late last night and asked for an answer by 10am this morning. The response from the SEC and Big 10? We need to have a call with our presidents in the afternoon. It’s a sign of who really holds the cards here. And it’s not Ted Cruz or Maria Cantwell. It’s the SEC and BIG 10 and they’re playing it that way. ** Personally, I don’t like the bill as currently constructed. All it does is cap player costs and create an oversight structure on those player costs while limiting future expansion of the SEC or Big 10. Ther…

  12. Is the No. 1 class in play for Texas? To answer the question: yes. But for the top spot to come to fruition, a few things would help … For this exercise I'm using the 247Sports Recruiting Rankings since the website has a Class Calculator feature to give numerical outcomes. Texas currently ranks No. 4 on the platform. 1.) Go 3 for 3 on the top remaining targets — as things stand That means land five-star running back Landen Williams-Callis, five-star offensive tackle Ismael Camara, and five-star receiver Monshun Sales. 13. Fall camp and football season is right around the corner and with it comes the ever-important senior year for 2027 prospects. With those senior seasons comes ranking risers or droppers, and in this story I picked three Texas commits who I believe have the best chances to rise in the rankings as seniors. (And no, I'm not going to write a story on three commits who have a chance to drop) Pearland Shadow Creek CB Brandon Sherrard IR: 4-star | NATL: 158 | CB: 19 | TX: 21 247: 4-star | NATL: 185 | CB: 20 | TX: 29 On3: 4-star | NATL: 201 | CB: 25 | TX: 25 ESPN: 4-star | NATL: 154 | CB: 19 | TX: 24 Sherrard only played in six games as a junior before sufferi…

  14. OTF Community: If you could ask Coach Sark, Kiffin, Venables or Elko one question I'm throwing this out to the OTF community this morning. Want to know what's the one question you would ask each coach prior to the season. For instance, I got to ask Coach Sark a question at SEC Media Days. I asked about KJ Lacey and where he's at in his development, because we all know there will be a series or a few plays he's called upon this season. It's inevitable. I can't wait to her the questions lol View full news story

  15. Sophomore Jumps Needed from Seven Key Sophomores *** During the week we have taken a look at reasons for optimism, reasons for hesitancy and even taken a stab at some of the offseason's most topical hypothetical debates. Today, we are going to take a look at this season from a different perspective. For any of the goals that are set ahead for the Longhorns in 2026, several players in year two are going to need to take a jump in production. Many are coming off of freshman campaigns where there were glimpses throughout the season. But glimpses aren't going to last a full 16 game season. Texas needs those glimpses to become a constant. So, for this exerc…

  16. My favorite commit and second favorite commit from all 16 SEC programs — ALABAMA Favorite commit — Baton Rouge (La.) Dunham School QB Elijah Haven Huge, prototypical passer with all the tools and traits to be successful. Plays lower level football like Arch Manning did and comes from the same program that produced Derek Stingley, but dominates on Friday night lights like he’s supposed to. Likely the QB of the future for Alabama after Keelon Russell moves on (I very much expect Russell to win the job this fall). Runner up — IMG Academy WR Osani Gayles — Well-rounded receiver with a super high floor. ARKANSAS Favorite commit — Denton Ryan CB Jo…

  17. Buy or Sell – Eight Days to Training Camp *** Continuing our theme of counting down the days until fall training camp begins with an in-depth look at the 2026 roster, we have a fun topic of discussion today. Eight topics. Eight discussion points. Eight decisions to buy or sell some of the hottest topics from the offseason. *** 1. Arch Manning Sets the Single Season Passing Record In 2008, Colt McCoy set the Texas single season passing record with 3,849 yards in statistically one of the best quarterbacking seasons in program history. 18. Landen Williams-Callis chasing Texas High School records in 2026 Texas fans are awaiting the Saturday announcement by Landen Williams-Callis with hopes that the 5-8, 197-pound record-setting running back will pick the Longhorns over SMU, Texas A&M, Missouri and Houston. Following Williams-Callis' commitment ceremony, all headlines about the Houston area star will turn to a senior season that could end with his name littered all over the rushing and scoring record books. OnTexasFootball takes a look at where Williams-Callis stands in the record books headed into the season. Career Rushing Yards 11,382 Kaegan Ash, Mount Enterprise, 2022-25 11,2…

  20. Fort Bend Ridge Point 2028 linebacker Khalen Taylor has had a busy offseason and has collected all but one of his 22 offers since April, including an offer from Texas that came through on May 31. “This summer really took my recruitment to another level. I started by attending the Texas Elite Camp, where I earned an offer. Then I went to the SMU Mega Camp and picked up a few more offers. I also camped at Penn State and Miami, and I took visits to TCU, Houston, Virginia Tech, Arizona State, and Baylor.” Despite the new recruiting attention, Taylor is staying focused on his upcoming junior season. “The main things I’ve been focused on this summer are getting f…

  21. AUSTIN, Texas — The Longhorns men’s basketball program was already trending towards a preseason top 10 billing this offseason, then went out and added the No. 1 player from 2027 in Marcus Spears Jr., welcoming the former five-star forward this season via reclassification. “I’m excited to talk to you about Marcus Spears,” Sean Miller told reporters on Tuesday. “Number one, Marcus comes from an amazing family, an accomplished family, especially in the athletic world. Very few parents have done more than his mom and dad, both athletically. But yet, when you look at Cari, who plays volleyball here for Jerritt, and now Marcus with us, I think what you're going to find is…

  23. Sean Miller Media Availability Thread: Summer Update Sean Miller will have a media session to update the team and program today around 11am CT. Jeff Howe and Hank South will be in attendance. The Longhorns will very likely be ranked inside the top 10 in the AP preseason poll. IMO, Texas should be top 8. Texas will start 5 future NBA draft picks this season, and a sixth sure fire NBA draft pick will come off the bench. Jeff Howe and myself interviewed Miller two months ago ... he went player by player on this seasons roster ... but that was before Marcus Spears Jr. joined the fold. If you want to learn about the guys a little prior to Miller's summer updat…

  24. They’re horse trading in the senate right now. The Save College Sports Act is attempting to push the total cap to $51.5m for the entire athletic department. Will it get done this week? Or will it die a slow death? ** Simultaneously, Big 10 media days begin this morning. And some news has already broken. Ohio State athletics has signed a jersey patch deal with JP Morgan Chase for $15m annually. Much of that will go to fund NIL for the Buckeyes. ** Two weeks ago, I asked some folks inside the building to name an offensive player that would likely surprise folks in 2026. The answer was Emmett Mosley V. This week, I asked a si…

  25. Cy Ranch offensive tackle R’Monie Edwards was one of the first prospects in the 2028 class to emerge as a national recruit. Edwards was a walk-in varsity starter at left tackle as a freshman, and picked up his first offer from Ole Miss after the first two games of his high school career. He’s since collected 27 more offers as he’s ascended into a consensus top-60 overall prospect and a top 10 offensive tackle in the nation. While prospects who emerge at an early stage can sometimes take their foot off the gas pedal, that won’t be the case for Edwards who has had a busy offseason playing basketball and pumping iron. “My strength and my footwork but mostly …
