Camara is scheduled to take his official visit to Texas during the Ohio State game weekend (Sept. 11-13). After cancelling all of his OVs right before the summer started, this will be his only OV of the process. On Monday morning, OTF was able to speak with a source close to the Gilmer product about if he has other Texas visits booked. This is what OTF was told: "Planning on attending ALL of them (if non Friday night injuries or captains duties permit)." The Clarion Ledger released its 'Dandy Dozen' for the 2026 season on Monday. It's an annual list of a dozen of the state's top rising senior football players that comes out each August. Dating back to 1989, the Dandy Dozen is arguably the most prestigious award/list a Mississippi HSFB player could be named to. Texas EDGE commit Derwin Fields has often brought up being named to the Dandy Dozen as one of his main goals he hopes to accomplish before heading off to college. Saturday night practice was inside DKR. Time for some notes: - It was the annual donor practice, where major donors get a sneak peak at the Longhorns. - Sark spoke beforehand and emphasized that’s there’s 49 new players from last season. - I spoke to multiple sources so this is a mix of them all. - The play of Justus Terry, Melvin Siani, Zina Umeozulu, and Rasheem Biles was the most commented on to me. - Terry caused repeated upfield disruption. - Siani “was looking to bury his guy” on nearly every snap. We’ve talked about the relative lack of size at linebacker given Rasheem Biles and Ty’Anthony Smith are both expected starters. However, according to our CJ Vogel, Juice Cryer, a much bigger, more natural inside linebacker, has not been so easy for Smith to unseat in week one. If you recall, Smith was on the mend during spring training while Cryer, a Florida State transfer, participated fully in the install of Will Muschamp’s defense. Bobby Burton — It’s the look of the offensive line for me. It’s a bigger, more athletic group, and a more seasoned one. Moving Brandon Baker into guard and his off-season focus on transforming his body fundamentally changes the look of the unit. More thoughts: Defensive Interior - This group is as deep as any position on campus. Future NFL players abound. But are there are any true playmakers and/or disruptors? Ian Geffrard looks like a great take out of the portal and can play loads of snaps over the ball. Maraad Watson has re-shaped his body. Hero Kanu continues his ascent and has made himself into a future Sunday player. Same with Alex January. Justus Terry is the wildcard. Friday team notes OnTexasFootball brings team notes to begin Friday. Jordan Coleman OTF has mentioned that it's a possibility redshirt freshman left tackle Jordan Coleman may get some reps at left guard. Coleman took a few reps outside during the media window at left guard in drills. It's going beyond that, however. I was informed that Coleman got live 11 on 11 reps at left guard when practice moved to the indoor on day one. He's clearly being cross trained, but the staff also wants to take a look at him at the position as part of the competition on some level. Observations through two days. Quarterback - Arch Manning is the clear alpha. Not by position but for the entire offense. Texas goes as he goes. Manning was the first to break-down the team to begin practice, continues to lead the pace going from drill to drill, and more. He is leading by example. In drills, Manning hasn’t been perfect in open-viewing sessions. But there is zero question who is attempting to lead this team and the intensity behind it. Both KJ Lacey and Dia Bell have had their bright spots. Lacey is simply extraordinarily accurate and has a knack for timing. People want to compare him to Bryce Young. Texas will be practicing Friday evening, with full pads set to come on in the next couple of days. Cole Hutson has been cleared and is expected to return to the Texas practice field, perhaps as soon as tomorrow. We’ll update this story as needed. ** Update: Friday 8:01am Cole Hutson officially rejoined the Longhorn football team this morning around 7:45am. AUSTIN, Texas — Without Ryan Niblett’s Mr. October heroics last fall, Texas could have had a drastically different looking season. In a three-game stretch against Oklahoma, Kentucky, and Mississippi State, Niblett returned seven punts, averaging just over 38 yards per return, each time either finding the end zone or setting the Longhorns up in good field position at critical moments in the game. To put it into perspective of how impactful Niblett was in that stretch, that’s almost 12 yards more per return than the nation’s leader last season (Iowa’s Kaden Wetjen, 26.81). Sarkisian Speaks on Body Changes from the Spring *** First day of camp is a lot like the first day of school for us in the media. Of course, back in school, you were excited to return only to see the friends you did not have a chance to see during the summer months. That hasn't exactly been the case for Steve Sarkisian. Once the helmets go on and practice begins, it's easy to see what has, and hasn't, changed since spring camp wrapped up five months ago in Austin. Cole Hutson has reached an agreement with the NCAA that voids his need for an Aug. 10 court date seeking eligibility for the 2026 season. The NCAA agreed that Hutson’s situation applies the same as the Wisne case covering class of 2022 recruits, which granted the class five years to play five seasons. Hutson started at Texas as a true freshman, and eventually played in 48 games in his four-year career. The agreement paves the way for Hutson to return to the Longhorns for this season.
