Texas has suffered its second casualty in the 2025 class in as many days as 2025 California OL John Mills has announced he will flip to Washington. This was the verbal pledge I had referred to earlier on The Winning Drive and in the comments today on the recruiting threads. Mills had previously committed to Texas on June 24th, though has tremendous ties to the Washington program and opts to stick closer to home for his college football days. View full news story

My five biggest takeaways following the victory over Texas A&M last night in College Station. Unfazed Kyle Field was rocking on Saturday night. It was a legitimately awesome environment to walk into with emotions running high and the stakes as high as they come for a regular season game. Though, it did not matter for Texas. That was exactly the type of performance every Longhorn wanted to see. Why? Because it was absolutely dominating, smothering and unrelenting. The utter dominance of the win is undeniable. I thought about changing the title to this morning’s post from “Saturday” to something more clever and representative of these two teams renewing a rivalry the state has missed so much. But I decided not to, in part because I don’t think this Texas football team needs to materially change who they are today to win this football game in College Station. Texas has a strong defense. While there have been some rumors out there to the contrary, as of today Quinn Ewers is expected to start tomorrow night in College Station against Texas A&M. This falls in line with Steve Sarkisian listing Ewers, a three-year starter, as “probable” for this game. The real question is just how healthy Ewers will be in doing so. He has undergone treatment all week in an effort to expedite the healing process.
