My buddy said he heard that Texas A&M might leave the SEC for the Big Ten. Has anybody heard about this?

Just a mindless twitter rumor. Won't happen.

If A&M did try to pursue it, it would be the biggest mistake A&M has ever made.

Bigger than Jimbo?

Outside of College Station, the negative PR hit would be so massive (scared of Texas) that I think it would severely damage their ability to recruit, even with NIL.  Add that to trying to get local kids to tell their families they would be playing way far away from home.

So imo, yes even bigger than Jimbo.  He was still bringing in talent.

Maybe the Aggies could find a new rival to obsess over. I'm thinking Rutgers.

Would the Big 10 take them?  If they go anywhere, which I don’t think they will, they should go back to the Big XII.  Of course that would require them to actually admit their place in the CFB landscape.

The real question is whose coattails will A&M ride now that Saban is gone. Maybe Georgia will become the new Alabama, but what if Texas is the program leading the conference. Will they still chant SEC?

Yes, the Big 10 would take them. They are a huge university with a large following.
