On Texas Football Forum

A place where fellow Longhorns can discuss Texas Football, Sports and Recruiting with one another and the staff of On Texas Football.

  1. Jamar Beal-Goines in Arizona today. Remember the name. 10.6 100-meter. http://www.hudl.com/v/2LqpMS

  2. The departure of Jim Harbaugh from Michigan is just another chapter in what has already been a wacky, wild offseason in the month of January. Of course it has big implications on the college football landscape from a national perspective, but more specifically it will have quite the impact on the Longhorns come week two of the 2024 college football season when Texas heads north to Ann Arbor. It got me thinking. Something I don't do often. Just how many returning head coaches and quarterbacks will the 2024 Longhorns face? Well, the answer is this. Texas will face eight returning head coaches and eight first time quarterbacks in 2024. Only three Texas opponen…

  3. Three of the most high profile young stars on the Texas Longhorns 2024 roster out to eat earlier this week. This was posted by Colin Simmons' mother, Monica. We talked about Texas dominating DFW as of late, well you can point to these three for the reason behind that. As well as why Texas will continually have a strong foothold in the area for the immediate future.

Notice that 3 fours star DL players from LSU, SMU and MSU seem uncommitted. Would Texas have interest in any?

  5. I was wondering if possibly the job has been offered to one or guys but the teams they were with offered more money and/or a better title to retain them. Example- Rod Wright being given the defensive line job and title. Ryan Neilsen that Bobby has mentioned numerous time now being given the Defensive Coordinator job in Jacksonville What do you think Bobby, CJ,or Rod?

  6. Coached at WKU and Miami Dolphins

  7. I spoke to a person close to the situation last night. And here's what I was told... Texas is looking for a certain type of DL coach. Steve Sarkisian really wants to up the level of recruiting they have seen on the interior DL. While Bo Davis was a terrific coach, he didn't exactly leave the cupboard full at his position. Perhaps it's the only position on the team right now that doesn't have an abundance of talent in the underclass ranks. Texas sees this as an opportunity to improve the staff overall. Given that, Sark is trying to find someone who can fill the void of not only being an elite developer of talent, but also an elite recruiter of said tale…

  8. Fox Sports just released their latest mock draft this morning and they have Texas DT Byron Murphy II going to the 49ers at the end of the first round. No other Longhorns are projected in the first round in their mock draft. https://www.foxsports.com/stories/nfl/2024-nfl-mock-draft-bears-commanders-vikings-and-bucs-add-first-round-qbs

  9. This morning on "Coffee and Football", it was asked who would be the offensive and defensive MVP for the 2024 season. So I'm curious, who do you guys have? CJ and Bobby's answer: Quinn Ewers / Anthony Hill.

  10. Former Washington DB Jabbar Muhammad is in Eugene at the moment wrapping up his official to Oregon. The Ducks, to me, are the favorite to land the former All-PAC 12 cornerback, despite the family ties Muhammad has to Texas. A large reason for that is the snap share Muhammad would have with Oregon, and even Alabama for that matter. It is no secret Texas likes to rotate its defensive backs throughout games and the cornerback position is one that will have several capable bodies fighting for playing time in 2024. Oregon is pitching an immediate starting role for Muhammad. With the former DFW native hoping to increase his draft grade with one final collegiate s…

“WEAR IT.” I’ve probably heard my 15 year old son told that 25+ times in the last six months during baseball. After all, his coach is a hard-nosed, no BS, do what it takes to help your team type of guy. And I absolutely love it. My son responds well to it and I truly feel he gets the most out of baseball when he's coached hard. As for my son's coach, he knows what it takes to win. I saw him smoke many Big 12 opponents down while on the mound, including some former Longhorns. (Of course I also saw Ivan Melendez hit one of his longest hits ever against him, a fact my son and I both like to bring up occasionally.) On Sunday, I texted Bobby with this stat: …

CJ and I talk about the State of the Program. We discuss the Portal and whether or not - and how well - Texas filled its needs. The first couple of workouts for the football team. And the Horns vs Aggies junior days. View full news

  14. Austin Anderson outfielder Ed Small has decommitted from the Longhorns baseball program. Small is an elite prospect on the diamond, but has instead decided to focus his efforts on football moving forward. As a wide receiver, the 6-foot-1, 205-pounder already has offers in hand from schools such as TCU, Baylor, Texas State and Tulsa. He was recently on campus for the Texas junior day this past Saturday as well. This past season he hauled in 77 receptions for 1,112 yards and 19 touchdowns. Small was graded a 9.5 by Perfect Game for baseball, which is considered an MLB draft pick in the high rounds. View full news

  15. 2024 five-star WR Ryan Williams has re-committed to Alabama. Williams was expected to be on campus this weekend for an official visit with Texas, however that visit was cancelled and you can see now why the reason was. First big win for Kalen DeBoer as the head coach of the Tide. View full news

  16. Texas offered 2025 Alamo Heights ATH Michael Terry III over the weekend during the Junior Day. Terry did not shy away from discussing how much the Texas offer meant to him. Following the trip, Terry mentioned Texas joined TCU and Texas Tech in his top 3 grouping. Should Texas fully pursue Terry, I would give them the nod in this recruitment. There are some connections to the Texas program here that will work in the Longhorns' favor behind the scenes. The Longhorns did not discuss a specific position on the trip with Terry which is interesting. The do-it-all athlete has been recruited mostly at WR, though there have been other offers ranging across the field…

  17. Steve Sarkisian spent a fair amount of time in Dallas today. The Horns’ head coach has already been to both Skyline and South Oak Cliff today. One player that is clearly a priority for the Horns this recruiting cycle is Bo Barnes, the linebacker at Skyline. It’s the third time Sarkisian or a Texas coach has met with Barnes in the last week (once at junior day and twice at Skyline). View full news

  18. Late breaking news Wednesday night from the NFL world that will have plenty of implications on the CFB carousel. The Los Angeles Chargers are hiring Jim Harbaugh to be their next head coach. Michigan players will now be eligible to enter the NCAA Transfer Portal for the next 30 days. Potential movement in the assistant coaching ranks as well. Texas is also set to travel to Ann Arbor next year for a meeting with the National Champions during week two. A big moment for a number of reasons. View full news

  19. Josh Gibson, the head coach of Texarkana Pleasant-Grove, tells On Texas Football that Lance Jackson, the 6-foot-6, 245-pound defensive end who committed to Texas on Sunday, is expected be a mid-term enrollee. In other words, if everything goes right, Jackson would join the Longhorns in January of 2025. View full news

  20. Development matters. 5* athletes are great, but sometimes the staff needs to point to a 3* success story and show a high schooler how they developed them into being a guy who plays on Sundays. So, now that 3* success stories like Jaylan Ford and T’Vondre Sweat are off to the NFL, who is Texas’ most impactful 3* (high school rated) on the roster? Some examples below: - Barryn Sorrell, DE - Hayden Connor, OL - Gunnar Helm, TE - Jake Majors, C - Ethan Burke, DE
