On Texas Football Forum

A place where fellow Longhorns can discuss Texas Football, Sports and Recruiting with one another and the staff of On Texas Football.

  1. Couple of late lunch recruiting notes Things are heating up with Alief (Texas) Hastings EDGE pass rusher Smith Orogbo. Orogbo, 6-5 and 218 pounds, tells OnTexasFootball that his visit April to Texas will include a number of his coaches at Hastings High. This comes ahead of a June 14-16 official visit. OTF believes Texas has as good of a chance as any at winning out for the Houston area fast riser. Orogbo's 2025 teammate Ike Okafor will also visit Texas April 6. Okafor, 6-3 and 250 pounds, has official visits scheduled to Arizona State and California. Baylor is among those also in pursuit. Texas hasn't offered, but continues to evaluate. Hopewell (Va.) IMG…

  2. We’re two weeks in to spring practice. We’re hearing about some “movers” behind the scenes. And by that term, we mean players who are moving up the depth chart or who are changing the way they are perceived by teammates and coaches alike. Here’s a quick rundown. 1. Tre Wisner RB - while Wisner is likely to play third fiddle to the mix of Jaydon Blue and Cedric Baxter, he could also be forcing himself on the field in a role not all that dissimilar to Keilan Robinson. Wisner is even more versatile than Robinson, because of his ability to truly play the RB position. 2. Matthew Golden WR - Consistent and reliable. Those are the words folks are using to des…

  4. The Texas Longhorns have made the cut for 2025 Lewisville OT Michael Fasusi in his top seven. Fasusi is expected on campus April 9 for an unofficial visit before returning to Austin in June for his official visit on the 21-23 weekend. Texas A&M has made some noise here after back to back weekend visits from the Lewisville star. However, Kyle Flood and the Longhorns have long prioritized Fasusi and made it known early he is atop of the Texas board. View full news

  5. Top DL target visiting April 6 The Texas Longhorns April 6 visitor list continues to add big time names. One day after OnTexasFootball confirmed that Auburn commit Malik Autry (Opelika, Ala./High) s scheduled to be in Austin this weekend, another 4-star defensive lineman is confirmed for Saturday. Lufkin (Texas) High's Zion Williams told OnTexasFootball last night that he plans to be in Austin Saturday with his mom. Williams, 6-4.5 and 325 pounds, will also make an official visit to Texas June 21-23. The main competition for Texas with the East Texas stout interior lineman is LSU. Williams made an unofficial visit to LSU in March, and plans to be ba…

  6. Folsom (Calif.) High defensive lineman and OnTexasFootball 4-star Josiah Sharma made his first visit to Texas Friday. Sharma, 6-3.5 and 323 pounds with power and explosive ability, was accompanied on the visit by his mom and a few Folsom High coaches. Per a source Sunday, Sharma and his mom had a tremendous visit to Texas. From watching the spring practice, to meeting with Steve Sarkisian, spending time with Kenny Baker for the first time and time spent in the facilities around people and players in the program. Baker was said to have made a strong impression on Sharma and his mom. Sharma walked away from the visit with a belief that Baker and Texas could help…

What are the odds Gbenda ends up with a draft grade this season. He jas made significant strides the past 2 seasons. If he continues that trajectory where do you think finishes? My thoughts 4-6 round pick but a huge jump from a few seasons ago.

  9. Someone asked me what I think is good basketball. I'll say the best basketball I've ever seen was by the 2001 Lakers in May-June 2001. Specifically, their run through the Western Conference playoffs with eleven wins and no losses is the best stretch basketball I've ever seen. They ran a real offense (not just dribble and shoot like you have now) and played excellent defense. Portland, Sacramento, and San Antonio weren't just good, they were all excellent teams. The Lakers had time off before the Finals and took a couple of games to get back on track against the 76ers. Kobe saved the title by hitting a 30 foot three pointer to send game two to OT after a first game loss. H…

  10. Texas Recruiting Board: Offense The Texas Longhorns staff has more than 30 prospects in the 2025 cycle scheduled for official visits in June ahead of the spring evaluation period. OTF will publish the defensive board on Sunday. Quarterback K.J. Lacey, QB, Saraland (Ala.) High #AllGasNoBrakes OnTexasFootball ranking: 4-star What to know: Will visit April 6, attend the Texas spring game April 20 and make official visit June 21-23. 12. Four-star CB target visiting Texas Friday The Texas Longhorns will host of the top cornerback targets in the 2025 cycle Friday. Pearland (Texas) Shadow Creek cornerback Cobey Sellers told OnTexasFootball that he will make an unofficial visit to Texas Friday. Sellers, 5-11.5 and 175, has been a top target of the Longhorns for almost a year. Defensive backs coach Terry Joseph has maintained constant communication with Sellers since the spring of 2023. Head coach Steve Sarkisian and area recruiter Blake Gideon were by the Houston area school in January. Oklahoma entered the spring in a good spot, and the Sooners will receive an official visit June 21-23…

  13. Texas will be hosting a handful of prospects on campus this weekend. However, a new name has surfaced as one that will also be making the trip to the 40 Acres. 2027 Waxahachie QB Jerry Meyer III will make his first trip to Austin. Meyer, who just moved in from Las Vegas, has not yet seen his recruitment blow up despite throwing for a Nevada state record 58 touchdowns and leading his high school to the class 2A State Championship a year ago. Regional schools have begun reaching out to Meyer following his move to the DFW area. Oklahoma, Baylor and Utah are other schools that have begun ramping up communication as well. There is also the possibility of a …

  14. Any interest here or the fact that he is testing draft waters make Texas not interested?

  15. OnTexasFootball broke the news earlier this week that Folsom (Calif.) High 4-star DL Josiah Sharma was expected to visit this weekend. OTF can confirm that Folsom High is represented at Texas right now. There is at least one member of the Folsom High staff on campus as well right now. Pearland (Texas) Shadow Creek 4-star cornerback Cobey Sellers got to campus at around 6am this morning to take in the team prep prior to Friday morning spring practice. OTF can also report that 2027 RB Ezavier Crowell (Jackson, Ala./High) is also on campus right now. Crowell, 5-11 and 200 pounds, has 18 offers including Texas on January 31. Another visitor of note if 2026 D…

  16. The Longhorns are not practicing today, but will return to the field Friday for practice. So on this off day for the team, thought it would be a great time to deliver a few notes OnTexasFootball has picked up in recent days. * Trey Moore has been talked about the top/best pass rusher on the team in some circles already. That's because he has both finesse and power moves with twitch. What hasn't been talked about as much is his ability to be effective in the run game. One area he has impressed early on is his ability to set the edge. * Freshman Wardell Mack has made positive impressions at cornerback due to his advanced understanding of press coverage fro…

  20. A few recruiting updates ahead of the weekend. *** Texas will be hosting 2026 Forney RB Javian Osborne for an unofficial this weekend. Osborne has been a frequent visitor to Texas during his recruitment and was lsat campus for the Junior Day on January 20. Orborne rushed for 2231 yards and 39 rushing touchdowns in 2023. While Texas has a verbal pledge in the fold from Aledo RB Raycine Guillory Jr. the recruiting of running backs in this class has not slowed. *** Four-star 2025 OL Lamont Rogers is expected on campus Friday. Rogers was down in Austin last week for the Elite 11 and All-22 though did not stop by campus to see the staff. The Mesquit…
