Spoke with a couple of folks this morning after the Horns 4-1 loss to TAMU-CC. First, the bad news has now been made public but RHP Tanner Witt is out. How long? They aren’t sure yet. Witt hasn’t pitched in a few weeks and I’m told that they’re trying to figure out what the issue is (medically) exactly. That has yet to be determined from what I hear. Last week I reported that the staff felt really good about Ace Whitehead. You saw that come to fruition Saturday when he pitched a complete game, all 117 pitches, against Baylor to help the Horns secure the win. I’ve been told that only boosted the confidence he has in himself and that the staff and team have in h…

Thought this was fake news at first. https://www.kxan.com/sports-general/horns-report/tvondre-sweat-arrested-by-apd-faces-dwi-charge/ Unfortunate, that our young men across all these Universities just continue to make bad decisions when it comes to drinking and driving. After the issues at Georgia I was hoping that this wouldn’t occur within our own Longhorn Family. Thank God he’s okay and no one was harmed by his poor decision. Hope he learns and grows as a man once the aftershocks he’s surely going to experience after this conclude.

#4 Texas hosts #1 OU today, beginning at 1:00 PM. Each team has won one game apiece in the series, so today’s game is huge for obvious reasons. Last night the Longhorns snapped the Sooners 40 game conference win streak, as they won 2-1. Game will be televised on LHN and is sold out.

Texas was on the field this morning for the first scrimmage of the spring season. Some notes that were passed on to On Texas Football following the live action. *** – RG DJ Campbell did not finish the scrimmage in pads and was treated with an ice wrap on his shoulder. When Campbell was out of the lineup, Neto Umeozulu was the filler at right guard with Hayden Conner occupying the left guard position. – I am told the offense had a very strong day in the red zone today with multiple conversions consecutively in a designed goal-to-go period of practice. Ewers had a pair of touchdowns in the session, and the OL was able to create push for scores as well. …

Reviewing the 2023 season of every play for UGA QB C Beck. He was not under duress all season until Alabama game 2 sacks. However they will have to replace Bowers and McConkey. Also a few OL pieces. They probably will replace them with good players however Bowers was a focus on many of Becks games. Beck does have good presences in the pocket and good feet to escape the pocket but he rarely has to. He bounces back in the pocket and rifles the ball down field. Must be nice! Their OL was dominant. We must be able to get QBS like Beck to the ground to raise our game. Agree or Disagree? 🤘

A quick look at which position groups are making noise so far this spring and where the improvement over the back half of practices can be made. *** Quarterback It has been a clean spring for Quinn Ewers and Arch Manning through seven practice sessions. There is much more confidence on the side of Quinn Ewers and the ball is getting out much quicker where as in previous years we would have seen indecision. Manning is coming along nicely as well in his development. I have also heard positive remarks about Trey Owens early on. Running Back The question now at the position is who takes hold of RB3 spot. It will be CJ Baxter as your No. 1 lead back th…

Welcome back to the 2nd edition of the 2024 Texas Longhorn Mock Draft. Some major changes to how I view Texas Draft hopefuls following the conclusion of the NFL Combine and Texas Pro Day. Plenty of risers and a pair of fallers in the latest update. *** DL Byron Murphy – Round 1, Pick 15 to IND (up 1 spots) The Combine darling has remained in that 12-20 range in most mock drafts. I could see Murphy's stock go either way come draft day, however I like where the Colts pick here. I am imagining how disruptive a defensive line of DeForest Buckner and Murphy would be together and find myself giddy. WR Adonai Mitchell – Round 1, Pick 23 to…
