  2. Monday afternoon recruiting nuggets The Texas Longhorns hosted a number of unofficial visitors over the weekend, and are scheduled to host a big time target in the near future. OnTexasFootball bring Texas fans some Monday afternoon nuggets, and you don't have to wait in a long line to get them. Josiah Sharma and Texas OnTexasFootball spoke again today with a source in California on 4-star defensive tackle Josiah Sharma (Folsom, Calif./High). OnTexasFootball reported last week that we expected the one-time Washington verbal to be on campus in the next two or three weeks. OTF can now say we expect Sharma on campus this weekend, barring a scheduling change…

  6. On Texas Football Forum · Started by Bobby Burton,

Texas practices at DKR this morning. There will be a 30-minute viewing window for media. CJ and Gerry will both be there for OTF. We'll also be hosting a livestream immediately following practice so please stop by around 9:45 or so for more. * Heading into the second week of practice, there are a couple of things to watch. 1. Movement at wide receiver, edge, tight end and safety. Those are the primary places where portal entries have currently been running behind others. Only Isaiah Bond has cracked the starting lineup as of Saturday afternoon. That leaves us to see exactly what happens this week with Trey Moore, Andrew Mukuba, Matthew Golden…

  7. Texas wrapped up its third practice of the spring this morning in front of 100+ high school coaches from around the state who were in town for the Texas Coaches Clinic. Of course, Los Angeles Rams HC Sean McVay will be the keynote speaker this year. Some notes from practice this morning. *** Starting with a pair of early enrollee freshmen – Daniel Cruz and Alex January. The two provided some really intense battles with one another in the 1-on-1 portion of practice in the trenches. Both are advanced for their age and experience, which leads to some really exciting back and forths. Both have had their moments with January avenging a rep with a smooth swim mov…

  9. The Elite 11 took place on Sunday at Austin Westlake HS a few miles from downtown Austin. Of course, the big name in attendance was Texas commit KJ Lacey who received an invitation to the Elite 11 Finals in California later this summer. Elite 11 Finals invites: KJ Lacey, Kevin Sperry, Keelon Russell Lacey of course stuck around in Austin Monday morning for the spring practice. 2027 Shreveport (LA) QB Peyton Houston also stuck around to view practice this morning. Houston holds six offers at the moment – Louisiana Tech, Ole Miss, TCU, Texas Tech, Texas A&M and Grambling State. But here are my biggest takeaways from the day of throwing: *** …

  10. Dallas Cowboys Executive Vice President Stephen Jones spoke about Texas RB Jonathon Brooks this morning at the Owners Meetings which are currently underway now in Orlando. Of course, Dallas is familiar with Texas prospects having drafted LB DeMarvion Overshown a year ago and with former Longhorn Paxton Anderson, the grandson of Jerry Jones, now employed by the franchise. The Cowboys did not re-sign Tony Pollard this offseason, though they did agree to a one-year deal with RB Rico Dowdle. Regardless, the Cowboys will be in the market for a running back come the draft.

  11. One of the prospects with the most intrigue at today's Elite 11 in Austin was 2025 Duncanville QB Keelon Russell. The 6-foot-3 gunslinger was mighty impressive today in the throwing circuit the Elite 11 puts quarterback prospects through. In fact, Russell earned an invitation to the Elite 11 Finals in California. Russell will attend the Texas spring game April 20 which raised some eyebrows considering the current verbal commitment from KJ Lacey to Texas. While the face time with the Texas staff will wait until April, Russell did update his recrutiment a bit with a focus on where Texas sits in his recruitment. Steve Sarkisian went by Duncanville for a game i…

  12. Four-star Lake Travis DL Gus Cordova to visit Texas for Spring Game Texas will receive an unofficial visit from 2025 Lake Travis defensive end Gus Cordova for the Texas spring game on April 20. Cordova has continued to be recruited by the Longhorns since his visit for the junior day in January and told me in February that the staff has continued to be actively pursuing him. The Lake Travis EDGE also locked in an official visit to USC for June 21-23. The next couple of months will be loaded with unofficial visits. Cordova told me last month he hoped to get up to as many as nine campuses in the months of March and April. View full news

  15. Texas 2025 Best Class Scenario: March 24 edition It's time for the latest edition of the Best Class Scenario for the 2025 class. The Texas Longhorns are in search of a fourth straight top 5 ranked recruiting class. Based on the 30 plus prospects that have scheduled official visits, and the remainder expected to announces visit date, Texas has at least a 50-50 shot at reaching the There are 29 names currently on the list with a combination of 24-25 creating a near lock scenario for a fourth straight top 5 class. There is one newcomer to the list on the defensive side of the ball. This list will shift and move once the March and April unofficial visitor ret…

Ace just pitched a complete game for the Horns, 117 pitches total, as they defeat Baylor 10-2. A phenomenal performance for a really good player both on and off the field. Tip of the cap to him.

  20. Brandon Brown post visit scoop Texas 4-star defensive line commit Brandon Brown (Melbourne, Fla./Eau Gallie) made his first ever visit to Texas on Friday. OnTexasFootball caught up with someone very close to Brown on Saturday morning to get the latest after the visit. Nuggets from visit *Brown was on campus for about 5.5 hours Friday. The visit was originally scheduled to be four hours. *Brown's mom, older sister (senior in high school) and best friend made the visit as well. Brown arrived on campus a little before his family did. Brown flew into Austin (California Power 7v7), while his family flew into Houston and drove to Austin. *The s…

  21. Now that Quinn is in his third year at Texas is he allowed to change a play at the line of scrimmage if he sees a change in the defense? Now maybe it doesn't matter if they go with the headsets in the helmet, but there have been times when changing the play would have been a good idea? Did Steve Sarkisian allow quarterbacks at Alabama to change plays?

  22. Texas will lose the home series against the now 6-7-1 Huskies with the #280 hitting team out of 295 in the country. Texas is 0-5 against P5 teams outside the Big 12. Texas has losses against SEC teams LSU, Vandy and A$M. This doesn’t include Tennessee, Ole Miss, Florida, Miss St, and Arkansas. At this point I don’t care what we do the rest of the Big 12 season because it’s a trash league to where we are going. The only team that “appears” to be good is TCU. Maybe Oklahoma St proves to be decent. Texas Tech shouldn’t be ranked. Beaten no one and has 8 wins against Texas Southern, Gardner Webb and New Mexico St. Next year is going to bring a very rude…

  23. Texas took to the field Tuesday morning for the first practice of the spring window. While the media window concluded with the team mostly undergoing special team and individual drills, Steve Sarkisian peeled back the curtain just a bit in his press conference following practice. The NCAA Playing Rules Oversight Committee proposed three new rules for the upcoming 2024 season – with helmet communication being the No. 1 talking point of the bunch. During the post-practice press conference, Sarkisian mentioned how that rule change impacted the first spring practice window with a look ahead to how it might trickle down to the field in the fall. "A little differ…
