With the Pro Day today I figured I'd look up some Longhorn draft history and came across a couple of interesting things. Since the draft went to 7 rounds in 1994, the most Longhorns draft in a single class was 7 in 2007. I think Texas will definitely tie that number in this year's draft, unless something crazy happens, and could pass it. I think the locks are Murphy, Worthy, Mitchell, Sweat, Sanders, Brooks, and Jones. We had four others go to the combine so only need one of those to go in the late round. I'm seeing Ford and Whittington in some late rounds in some mock drafts. Those first 7 are also spread across 5 of the 8 main football positions in my eyes (QB, RB, …

Wednesday morning recruiting nuggets If Texas fans are wondering who could be the next prospect to receive and offer from the Longhorns, time to take a look toward the Golden Triangle. OnTexasFootball was informed Tuesday night that the Texas staff is close to offering Port Arthur (Texas) Memorial 2026 LB Tai'yion "Tank" King. King, 6-1.5 and 210'ish, is an instinctive downhill linebacker that has been a force for the Titans since his freshman year on varsity. King has 15 offers with Notre Dame being the most recent. Texas A&M is considered the team to beat headed into the spring. King is expected to visit Texas Saturday prior to a 7v7 tournament in …

I just reconfirmed with someone close to Quinn that he is still expected to throw on Wednesday at the Longhorns' pro day. Pro day will be particularly important to four Longhorns IMO: 1. Quinn Ewers - Quinn is a potential first-round pick this time next year. But it will be the first in-person scouting event of many upper-level executives. How he performs on Wednesday will have a bearing on some thinking heading into next year's draft. 2. Jaylan Ford - the linebacker did not test in Indianapolis. He needs to run sub-4.7 if at all possible. 3. Jordan Whittington - J-Whitt did not test in Indy either. Anything sub-4.5 is good. But if he puts up a low 4.4…

Spring Practice No. 1 Observations Some random notes and thoughts from the 30 minute media viewing window... 1. The talent level at Texas is that of a program with a consistent chance to be a contender. A lot of likely and potential future NFL draft picks on the field today, spread in all classes. 2. Ryan Wingo is a dude. That's all. The rest will play out. 3. Sarkisian really praised Trey Moore in post practice presser. More isn't the guy that wows physically on first look, but he has compact twitch and power in his frame. Much stronger in lower body than a year ago playing at UTSA. 4. Just good to see Colton Vasek on the field again. Looks goo…

The Texas Longhorns were on the football field this morning! Gerry and Bobby are going live on YouTube as I write this (9:45 a.m.) but I have some notes I wanted to get over to the site. I spent a lot of time watching the front seven of the defense with a number of new faces and additions to the field. But here is the full run down of tidbits from day one. *** OFFENSE Quinn Ewers broke the team out and led the last bit of the opening stretching period. First Team Offense: QB – Quinn Ewers RB – CJ Baxter WR – Johntay Cook WR – Isaiah Bond Slot WR – DeAndre Moore TE – Gunnar Helm LT – Kelvin Banks …

Two visits to Texas for 4-star out of state OT When Texas offensive line coach Kyle Flood stopped by John F. Kennedy High in Cedar Rapids, Ia. in January it went without any fanfare. That's because the name Nick Brooks was just a very talented prospect in the 2025 class that Texas offered March 1, 2023. Brooks, 6-7 and 345 pounds, had not been on campus and was seen as a true long shot. Brooks then committed to Iowa the in early September before backing off that pledge November 7. At the time, Georgia was considered the main competition. And while the Bulldogs remain the in the top 2 with Iowa, Texas has officially entered the race. Brooks told OnTe…

Texas has extended an offer to 2026 American Heritage (FL) quarterback Dia Bell after an unofficial visit to campus Tuesday morning. Bell was on campus and attended the first practice of spring ball for the Longhorns this morning. It is certainly worth mentioning that Dia is the son of former NBA All-Defensive honoree Raja Bell who spent 12 seasons in the Association. With 25 offers under his belt now, Bell is touted as one of the most sought after recruits at the quarterback position in the 2026 class. View full news

There could easily be the possibility that Texas has too much talent at wide receiver, and if you're Silas Bolden would you start having serious second thoughts about not coming to Texas? He's going to be so far behind the other receivers and the talent of these young guys will make it hard to keep them off the field.

How well has Sark and the staff fared overall? The guys that are juniors were his first recruiting class. Where in comparison to the Georgia's and Alabamas and Ohio States is Texas now that they have had some time to build a roster. What are reasonable expectations moving forward?

Tuesday morning recruiting notes Four-star OT visiting Friday OnTexasFootball 4-star offensive tackle and Texas offer Josh Petty (Roswell, Ga./Fellowship Christian School) will make his first visit to Texas on Friday. Brown, 6-1.5 and 290 pounds, will fly from Melbourne to Houston Friday morning. He will then make a visit to Texas with members of the California Power 7v7 program before a 7v7 tournament in Houston Saturday afternoon and Sunday.
