On Texas Football Forum

A place where fellow Longhorns can discuss Texas Football, Sports and Recruiting with one another and the staff of On Texas Football.

  1. If you're worried about scholarships number, why wouldn't you have an NIL deal that makes worth a player while to play at TX? Is there a NCAA rule about how many walk on you can have? Is it ego for a player to not be in scholarship? I could see a deal where you have an NIL deal that cover the cost of school and real money to play at TX?

  7. One of the final topics on today’s Coffee and Football dealt with a question about more resources being spent on recruiting in say for example, Georgia. Great topic and great respondences by the panel. Does UT or any college use or employ ‘stringers’? The term comes from journalism and it is essentially a free-lance writer being used to write and have articles published periodically. MLB use to use scouts/stringers to comb the countryside looking for talent. My favorite story deals with Tom Greenwade scouting Mickey Mantle for two years and signing him on his HS graduation day. Anyway, is it legal for a college to use this type of ‘scout’ in small rural towns to…

  8. Now with the Virginia ruling that the universities can pay the players NIL money, does that now get rid of the scholarships? And if so, does that mean you can have of any type of player on your team and not have to worry about the scholarship number of 85 or whatever it is?

Noted comedian Shane Gillis was on campus today. He took a tour of the facility and took pictures with staff / players. The real question: Did he teach an OL clinic? Shane was born a Notre Dame fan with ND winning its last football title the year after he was born. Is Texas now a lock to win a title in the next year or two?

I seen a report that said Jim Harbaugh would be bringing his staff from Michigan to the chargers (assuming he takes the job ofc) but how big of an impact would it be if sherome moore was NOT the head coach at Michigan?
