Several Texas Longhorn defensive players will be available for comments ahead of the trip to Atlanta for the Peach Bowl.

Pete Kwiatkowski, LB Anthony Hill Jr., DB Jahdae Barron, DB Michael Taaffe and DL Alfred Collins will all be made available this afternoon.

Pete Kwiatkowski calls Cam Scattebo a "big physical back" with great contact balance.

Says he has really good hands in the passing game as well. Skattebo is ASU's 2nd leading WR.

PK says Texas went more into a "post-style" of defense. Basically a cover-4 look or two high safety look.

Says they were unsure how they would be able to play the run with a lighter box coming into the season. 

PK says he has had some really good defenses in the past, says this year's defense has been fun to coach and prepare with each week.

PK on preparing for Cam Skattebo: "It is easy to grab our guys' attention, we just turn the tape on."

PK confirms Texas still signals and communicates through the headset communications.

Says Texas is able to dummy hand signals at times when needed.

"Johnny (Nansen) and Kenny (Baker) have been awesome." Says PK.

Says Coach Baker has done a great job of teaching the techniques necessary on the front line.

"Everybody has a hand in the kitchen making this thing work." About the coaching staff.

PK says it is a bit challenging with the young players on the defensive side of the ball in the current format of the CFP.

Normally you would have 15-20 practices to prepare for a bowl game, but in the current state of the playoff, it is no different than a week to week game plan installation from the normal season schedule. 

LB Anthony Hill Jr. was asked if he ever wanted to be mic'ed up for a game.

"Oh no, I don't want to be mic'ed up."

Anthony Hill Jr. says he and Colin Simmons have a competition to see who can get more sacks on the season. He says Simmons "has him right now" with the sack lead but that he is hopeful he can get him back.

 

PK talking about potentially being a head coach at the college level.

Anthony Hill jr. says the cover 3 look allows for an extra guy in the box but also helps with the deep passes Texas had issues with a year ago.

LB Anthony Hill Jr. when asked about Cam Skattebo saying he was the best RB in the country. "I have been watching the tape, he deserves to say that."

Ant Hill highlights Jaylan Ford, Barryn Sorrel, Byron Murphy and Jahdae as guys that have helped mold him into year two as a college athlete.

DL Alfred Collins on what he has seen from the Arizona State offense: "That running back is a stud."

Texas DB Jahdae Barron speaking now.

Jahdae Barron on former Longhorn Xavion Alford: "That's my brother. Throughout the whole season, we chat every week except for this week."

Jahdae credits the extra bye weeks throughout the week for allowing the Longhorns to get and remain healthy during the season.
