On Texas Football Forum

A place where fellow Longhorns can discuss Texas Football, Sports and Recruiting with one another and the staff of On Texas Football.

  1. Have any of you ever done the public land hunt drawings from TPWD? If so, did you have any luck? I entered a couple because I want to hunt Sika deer without having to pay thousands for a guided hunt. I also tried a couple of others for Whitetail for the hell of it Was just curious what your experience was like.

  2. We’re 65 days away from Texas football. Today’s No. 65 group features Jake Majors, Greg Dahlberg and Omar Saleh. Majors put together one of the most accomplished careers of any center in Texas history with a program-record 56+ starts, a Big 12 title, CFP appearance, SEC title game appearance, Campbell Trophy finalist honors and three Academic All-Big 12 First Team selections. Dahlberg was part of a monster era under Darrell Royal... a three-year letterman, 1970 national champion and three-time SWC champion from 1970-72. Saleh was a multi-year offensive lineman in the 1980s and part of the group that helped Texas win the 1987 Southwest Conference title.

  3. I'm a bit surprised by Fakatou saying if it wasn't Ohio State it would have been Georgia. Seemed like from all reports Texas was in second place at worst. @Gerry Hamilton Are you surprised by that at all?

  8. RHP Gavin King of Middle Tennessee State has committed to the Longhorns. King visited Texas late last week and was the visitor I spoke of before the dead period. The Horns may still add one more arm in the portal.

  9. I was there! Right above Gameday and Lee Corso putting on the Longhorn. What a game to be at live! How many of you were there?

  11. Was told by a source on Monday that Texas is still actively recruiting Ohio State DE commit DJ Jacobs. Curious to see if efforts ramp up with Jacobs after Fakatou (also a big DE/EDGE target) committed to OSU today. Jacobs did not take an official visit to Austin this summer, so it's possible he could take an in-season look at Texas. He was last on campus for the Texas-Texas A&M game in November.

  12. If you enjoy deeper reads on how college football ended up with this legal mess, this is a good read IMO.

  14. We’re 67 days away from Texas football. Today’s group features Glen Halsell, Julius Whittier, Jay Humphrey and Will Wilcox. Halsell was an All-American and All-SWC linebacker on the 1969 national title team, while Whittier became the first African-American football letterman in Texas history and later went into the Texas Athletics Hall of Honor. Humphrey was an All-American tackle who helped clear the way for Ricky Williams’ Heisman season, and Wilcox was a multi-year letterman and contributor up front in the mid-1970s. Who's your favorite?

  16. Will Muschamp’s return to Texas coincides with a 2026 schedule chock-full of top-tier quarterbacks. Before SEC play begins with a trip to Tennessee on Sept. 26, the Longhorns will sandwich a pair of accomplished, decorated FBS quarterbacks (Texas State’s Brad Jackson and UTSA’s Owen McCown with their second meeting in nearly 380 days against Ohio State’s Julian Sayin. John Mateer (Oklahoma), Trinidad Chambliss (Ole Miss), Sam Leavitt (LSU) and Marcel Reed (Texas A&M) join Arch Manning, South Carolina's LaNorris Sellers and Georgia's Gunnar Stockton as the most experienced, productive and proven quarterbacks in the SEC. With talented-yet-unproven signal-calle…
