Over this weekend I was at a casino playing blackjack when a man in Texas Tech polo shirt approached the table and asked if he could join now or wait until the next shuffle. me: You’re going to need to change your shirt first. TT Dude: That is not going to happen. me: Did you bring Brendan Sorsby to help you place your bets? TT Dude: (annoyed silence for a few seconds)

For this week’s OTF Sideline Debate, we asked the staff: If Texas had to pick a sponsor jersey patch, who would you go with and why? — I spent my first year at Texas in Dobie Dormitory. It was in that same exact dorm where Dell Technologies was born just a couple of years prior. I like and appreciate the university’s relationship with Humann, because it started at UT, for much the same reason. No company is more UT than Dell. Any Texas team should be proud to be associated with it because of what it represents. — Bobby Burton — The sponsor I could see on the Texas Longhorns’ football jersey is a tough one. It would likely be an extremely successful alumnus, and …

Men’s Basketball signs Marcus Spears Jr. The nation’s top-ranked player in the Class of 2027 reclassifies and joins the Longhorns for the 2026-27 season. AUSTIN, Texas — Marcus Spears Jr. has signed an Athletic Scholarship Agreement (ASA) to play basketball next season at The University of Texas, head coach Sean Miller announced Friday. Spears Jr., the nation’s top-ranked player in the Class of 2027, has reclassified and will join the Longhorns for the upcoming 2026-27 season. With the addition of Spears Jr. to the Texas roster, the Longhorns have moved into the No. 1 spot nationally by 247 Sports in the organization’s ranking of overall basketball recruiti…

We are now witnessing a 7’4” guard skills player that has to be defended by bigs (really skilled NBA bigs to be clear), and is the best rim protector in the world on the other end. What he did last night to Anthony Davis and Derek Lively was pure basketball insanity.

This year's NBA draft class is the best since... I'll go first 96. I love that all four of the top four picks believe they should have went number 1. The Clippers are going to regret going Wagler over Acuff, they both are allergic to defense, but at least Acuff can create separation and get his shot off. Wagler... meh so far, not so much.

Madison Booker is likely a top three draft pick in 2027. However, she would be very welcomed to take that 5th year. How will this rule affect recruiting in all sports? I see it as a welcome conundrum.

Each of the On Texas Football staff members ranked our Top 40 players on the Texas football roster for our inaugural Top 40 on the 40. All of our selections were compiled and averaged out to produce an overall Top 40. Each Thursday in July, we’re releasing the list, 10 players at a time, along with a video breaking down the selections. Last week, we started with Nos. 40-31. This week, we’re breaking down Nos. 30-21. No. 30 — Laurence Seymore Seymore’s addition to the roster filled a glaring hole after Texas failed to solidify one of the two open guard spots with a transfer. The second-team All-American (Football Writers Association of America) from Wes…

As I mentioned in a previous post, went to school with his cousin JacQuizz Rodgers and social media friends with him. Saw a pic on Quizz’s story of him standing by who I believe is LWC wearing a Longhorn Tee. Posted yesterday. May or may not be him. Looks like him to me. Took a screenshot but not gonna post it here out of respect of privacy for their family. I’ll post it if he winds up committing, because it’s a cool pic of the two Rosenberg legends standing together (if it is indeed LWC). Only reason I feel comfortable sharing this speculation is because Quizz is friends or friends of friends with pretty much everyone in Rosenberg and posted this pub…

Chris Del Conte and the Texas Longhorn put a bow on the 24-25 athletic season during halftime of the Longhorns game against San Jose State by accepting a newly designed (and thankfully crystal once again) Director's Cup Trophy. This marked the 4th time the Longhorns have secured this award in the last 5 years. It is now time to turn our attention fully to the 25-26 athletic season and that is what I hope to do in this thread. While Football puts the F in OTF, the Longhorns boast many successful programs on the 40 and we will highlight those here in this thread. Any sport that isn't covered in detail elsewhere on the forum will be covered here. I don't claim to be an …

Leaving a NIL event at the Capitol Plaza McDonald’s for Kobe Black and Jelani McDonald where I was able to pick up an interesting nugget (not literally). A source says the move from cornerback to safety for Kobe Black has been great. Additionally, the source added Black has found quite the affinity towards the safety position. With it likely exceeding his time at cornerback. While still relatively new to the position, Black has already turned some heads since joining Blake Gideon’s room. Black told me at the event that he has added some weight to his frame, but that he believes he is in the best shape of his career at Texas. “I for sure added a littl…
