On Texas Football Forum

A place where fellow Longhorns can discuss Texas Football, Sports and Recruiting with one another and the staff of On Texas Football.

  1. Says “BYU losing created the head to head comparison between Notre Dame and Miami” No it didn’t, dumb dumb! 🤦‍♂️😂 That head to head comparison has been right there since the first CFP rankings in November. What a dumb, moronic committee. What really happened here is the ACC would be apoplectic to have their champion left out AND have Miami out over ND, who has the head to head loss. And the SEC would be apoplectic to have Bama out over the result of a CCG result. Translation: Bye Bye, Potato Boys! I think Notre Dame would have been it if Virginia won. What a mess. I love it! 😂

  2. Dan R. Hooks died Tuesday. He posted a record of 277-71-2 as head football coach at West Orange-Stark High School from 1981-2010. Won 2 State titles in 86 & 87 RIP Coach

  3. I wish the CFP playoffs used a power ranking system with Joel's logic! https://youtu.be/xt-Xz9g5tFc Note: Not sure if the link will work but he has the Longhorns in his top 10 and OU was out!

What is everyone's favorite play of the year? As much as I want to select something from the Aggy game, the image that pops up in my head is tip toe touchdown for Moseley from an ice cold Caldwell. https://www.youtube.com/shorts/oXmWC5TB1P0

  5. North Texas Hires Errin Joe *** North Texas has hired Texas Director of Scouting Errin Joe to be their next general manager according to Matt Zenitz of 247Sports. Joe was hired away from Georgia Tech at the beginning of the 2025 calendar year and helped the Longhorn establish deeper roots in Georgia and the Deep South. Now, Joe joins Neal Brown’s staff in Denton for the 2026 season.

Anyone else on here mildly offended that Xavier does not acknowledge UT when doing his intro on Sunday Night Football? He was the only player for either the Chiefs or Texans not to name his school in his intro. It is the second time I have noticed it as he did the same during the Thanksgiving day game with the Cowboys. He merely introduces himself as from Fresno, CA. Not sure what the back story is there.....

  7. This had been in the works for awhile now, but on Monday morning the Longhorns secured a commitment from 2027 elite outfielder Grant Westphal. Westphal is a national Top 10-15 type player out of Kansas. 107 exit velo. Great offense and defense. This is big time.

Which OTF'er in #1 in listening to the podcast? Let's see those numbers.

    - Any participating team must be 9-3 or better - One autobid for each P4 conference. Let each conference decide how they want the autobid to be earned- if the conference wants it to be winner of CCG, highest CFP ranked team, etc - If a G5/G6 team is in the Top 15 (unlikely), they are in. If not, the only route is a G5/G6 play in. - One spot reserved for G6. Four G6 champion team, two round G6 play in. Winner of the play in gets the G6 spot - G6 teams could all start playing in Week zero so that their championship weekend is a week earlier (earlier CFB? Yes please!) and the first round of the G6 play in is concurrent with P4 championship weekend, with …

  11. Even after how heated this game seemed to be, Bishop Jr. still went to shake hands with DeSoto Caught 2, runs 1, throws 1.. let's jump to 2027 when he's likely the top receiver/return man as a sophomore or RS Freshman with McCutcheon, Lockett, and Ffrench..and Terry? (or portal WR) DeSoto RB SaRod Baker ran for 7 TDs, 384 yds..c/o '27

  12. Here is a breakdown of SEC Schools and # of top 20 teams each school plays Here is Big 10, along with ND, Miami & Tx Tech. ND & Miami are pathetic and Tx Tech is an absolute joke. No Utah or BYU for Tx Tech's conference games next yr and non-conference games against Abilene Christian, At Oregon St, and Sam Houston. There is such a huge disparity in SEC/Big 10 games vs. ACC & Big 12. The SEC doesn't even include teams like LSU, Florida and Tennessee that could easily be top 20 next year based upon talent levels. Texas has to play at LSU and Tennessee next year, and both are very difficult road environments. It will be interesting to see i…

  13. 1) Feel like Littleton got robbed. 2) A lot of freshmen that Texas was in on, on this list. Dakorian Moore and John Mills feel like the biggest misses we had from this list.

  14. OTF on the road: 2027 commit Karnell James Manvel, Tx. - OnTexasFootball stopped by Manvel High today for the Mavericks athletic period. Of course, we wanted to bring the Texas fan base a look at James, plus gather info from the Manvel High staff on the 6-0.5, 175 pounder with a 77 inch wingspan. We’ll start with some pictures from the workout.

  15. Anyone else think its funny that Brooks Austin always throws some shots at Sark and Texas every show for the last month or more? He is now criticizing Texas for "ruining the sport" by threatening the cancelation of our big non-con after the Ohio St, Michigan games get honored. He's throwing this shade while being a homer of a school who never schedules marquee non-cons with blue bloods. I may be the only one who is bothered by this but I hate a hypocrite.

  16. Just like the team has to do some introspection and be honest with how they did for the whole season and what they need to work on. We as fans need to do the same thing. I saw too many fans this season way to quick to jump ship and start bashing players, asking for coaches to be fired (Including Sark), and just being negative nellies. We are all frustrated by how the season went, nobody more so than the players and coaches, but we also need to realize that our actions matter. The team sees this stuff, hears this stuff and it doesn't help anything. At the end of the day, the team has a job to go out there and produce, but we also have a job to support them and help th…

Hey @Gerry Hamilton I haven’t been able to attend a live stream to ask this and it has been on my mind for a while. If Baxter comes back next year do you think we could see the guy that was getting compared to great running backs before his injury occurred or is that not going to happen at Texas?

ND athletic director also had a press conference revealing a clause that ND would be in the 12 team playoffs next year so long as they were in the top 12.

With Elijah Robinson going to LSU. Should Texas be concerned with Watson leaving to reunite with him?

  21. Texas opens as -4.5 point favorites over the Michigan Wolverines.

Prior to the House settlement NIL was the “Wild West” with effectively uncapped NIL payments. My understanding is that pre-House agreements didn’t apply to the House salary cap. Was that waiver just for the 2025 season or does it apply through the term of the NIL agreement, however long that is?

Pretty darn impressive! 6-foot-4 and 250 pounds all while still being just 16 years old. Wesley is going to be a fun player over the years.

  24. Notre Dame just “opted out” of any bowl while crying about missing the CFP. They are giving up 15-20 more practices. Such a short sighted decision. I think any non CFP bowl will die in 2-years and the NCAA will grant all schools an additional 15 practices during that time.
