The biggest area of improvement without a doubt from this past season has to be the line. IMO Texas needs to get two, if not, three inside guys to come in. It would be nice to get the guard from Wisconsin, maybe McBroom from ULM. Also we do have some studs that could maybe transition to the interior, like Brooks or Cojoe but I don’t see that happening. This is just a problem I want solved by the end of this portal.

What I am seeing is we are back to playing by the rules (hearing similar about Ohio State) and trying to follow a rev share cap (17M at the most) while other schools like Oregon and Texas Tech are continuing to pay players through the loosely defined NIL rules to pay players above the “cap”. My legal understanding of house v NCAA is that it’s only a cap on rev share dollars. I expected us to spend above the cap because the NIL deal review is BS and illegal market intervention. But it seems we are taking the moral high road and only using rev share and letting NIL be true NIL deals for the players (comes from outside the program which therefore does not help recruiti…

Trinity Chambliss, Diego Pavia, Michael Taafe, were all no bodies till they were game changers! I don't see Texas looking for these players. They accidentally come our way every so often but we are TEXAS. We have the staff to scout the entire country, the FBS, FCS, the junior colleges and find guys who can play and stay in the classroom. We have resources, tutors, and we know how to polish and develop skills. Oh we brought in the guy from Big Sky Country and UTSA, but we haven't mined the HBCUs. I hate what college football is becoming. The issues keep compiling and every attempt of resolving issues ends up creating 10 more. As I say that, here is my two cents on how things should run. Calendar: - Start the season a couple weeks earlier into mid August - All teams have one bye, not two - No week 0 games, everybody starts the same weekend - BYE week in between conclusion of regular season and start of playoff/bowl season that would be the first week of December for national signing day and award season shows - The week after the bye the playoff immediately starts, with the championship game set to be played the first Saturday in Janua…

This will almost 100% be the last season we see Arch Manning, Colin Simmons, Trevor Goosby, Jelani McDonald, Hero Kanu, and Ryan Wingo in a Texas uniform and Sark and company is barely doing anything to put a good supporting cast around these guys.

Mods would it be possible to pull together an analysis of number of portal entries by big name program. Is the exodus Texas experiencing similar to what other schools are facing? OSU, Bama, UGA, etc. Or are they having better success with quantity of retention? I would say thus far outside of Wisner we haven’t had a huge drop off in frontline starters so Sark is doing okay on the quality retention.

Don’t get me wrong. I am excited for our boys and Arch to take the field. I also think we will have another successful year that could be so good that we take it all. Maybe we fall short again. My problem is I have seen the idea from some of the mods and many members of OTF that we have to go all in because Arch is our QB. I am not a fan of that mindset because I expect Texas to be a major player even after Arch leaves for the NFL. We have QBs lined up waiting for their chance who could be even better than Arch. Felt like this wasn’t being talked about enough. Washington’s starting QB agreed to a deal to return in 2026. 4 days later he enters the portal with a do not contact tag. Seems very obvious he was pushed into the portal by another school. There’s so much wrong with college athletics today I don’t know where to start.

I’ve seen enough. He had three years to work towards replacing the 2024 starters… and this is what we got. We didn’t pick up anyone in the portal. That’s an abject failure in the evaluation of his own room over the past two seasons. We’ve had multiple huge whiffs in recruiting. For the past four years, our offensive line has showed little in the way of power run blocking and short yardage, with poor aggression and bad technique. Even the 2024 crew was bad in the red zone.
