I'm going Brad Spence, Warren Roberson and Ryan Niblett. Who are some of the unsung heroes y'all are excited for? Yes Ryan Niblett was just that last year and as clutch as they come. He still seems under heralded. Happy August, Happy Sunday let me know who y'all think might be some timely underrated players heading into next season.

There was never any debate about who would represent No. 34. By the time his Texas career ended, Ricky Williams had rewritten both the Longhorn and NCAA record books. He rushed for 6,279 career yards and 72 rushing touchdowns, both still Texas records, while piling up 7,206 all-purpose yards and setting 21 NCAA records and 46 school records. His 1998 season remains one of the greatest individual campaigns in college football history: 2,124 rushing yards 27 rushing touchdowns 2,386 all-purpose yards Led the nation in rushing Rushed for a school-record 350 yards against Iowa State Broke Tony Dorsett’s NCAA career rushing record agains…

Viability of an OL platoon for 3rd and short, especially inside the 10 yard line. If I am correct there will be no power gap scheme, no pulling OG. Condensed filled therefore go with bigger IOL ie COJO, Chapman, Coleman, Paterson. Special teams too FG unit. 350+ size guys in theory should be able to push the pile, can they get low enough to not move backwards? Just looking for an answer to short yardage against Ohio State and SEC DL. If they can get that resolved I would feel a Natty mentality throughout the season in every game. Am I correct? That would be the story coming out of Fall practices IMO.

One of our members, Albert Green a.k.a Catfish Bevo a.k.a. AL Bevo, passed away this morning in the hospital. While he wasn’t very active on the board, he was always in the Coffee and Football chat. According to his wife, an infection spread through his body from a valve that was replaced last year. I’ve known Brother Al for a long time…. Back to when I covered recruiting at my first job. He was a good, good man who served his community as a preacher, among many other things. Al would stop in Comanche anytime he was near and meet Krista and I at Dairy Queen. During those times it was apparent he loved three things: The Lord, The Longhorns and his fa…

With the Longhorns set to hit the field for the start of preseason practice next week, it’s time for On Texas Football to provide a pre-camp snapshot of the Texas depth chart. This is what we expect the depth chart to look like when the Longhorns open camp, not a projection of what it will look like when the first official depth chart is released for the Sept. 5 season opener against Texas State. The high school signees (including John Meredith III) and additional players picked up from the transfer portal who weren’t with the team for spring practice have been added to the depth chart, as they weren't included in our post-spring practice snapshot. According to …

Friday Team notes: WR OnTexasFootball checked in with a couple of sources in the last half of the week on the wide receiver position. One source said the group looked "phenomenal" in the last few workouts. OTF has reported on Emmett Mosley V has looked very good this summer. That was relayed to OTF this week again. A source said the 6-2, 200-pound junior has had the look of a wide receiver that would be a No. 1 at many Power 4 schools the last part of the summer. OTF has mentioned that there is a thought Mosley V could lead the team in receptions this season. That was reiterated this week as a possibility. There is also a belief within the program that Mosley …

According to the Texas baseball program, RHP Sam Cozart recently underwent "minor foot surgery as a preventative measure to address a previous injury." While Cozart is expected to be limited during offseason workouts, he's on track to be ready to go for the start of the 2027 season. The expectation is that the NCBWA Stopper of the Year will move into the weekend starting rotation, forming a potentially dominant 1-2 pitch with All-American Dylan Volantis. As a freshman, Cozart led Division I among pitchers who threw at least 50 innings in WHIP (0.73) and batting average against (.140). He was second in the nation with a 1.72 ERA, trailing only UC Santa Barba…
