Season and individual tickets to Texas football home games are now completely sold out. That’s amazing. Here’s the first part of the official university release: “Excitement surrounding the 2026 Texas Football season continues to build in anticipation of the Longhorns’ home opener on September 5. Season tickets and individual game tickets for all home games at Darrell K Royal-Texas Memorial Stadium are officially sold out through Texas Athletics. The sellout continues the incredible momentum surrounding the program under Head Coach Steve Sarkisian and marks the fifth consecutive season that Texas fans have sold out DKR well before the opening kickoff of the…

AUSTIN, Texas — Even though Texas couldn’t go through a fully padded camp practice until Tuesday, developing and maintaining a physical edge and playing with high levels of physical and mental toughness were arguably the primary themes of the Longhorns’ first five practices. Steve Sarkisian referenced physicality or toughness 13 times in the opening statement of his post-practice media availability on Monday. For a coach who likes to point out that you get what you emphasize, Sarkisian knows the kind of team Texas has to be to get where it wants to be in 2026. “There's a mindset to it that this team, maybe, better than some other teams, have really embraced that…

Targeting penalties assessed in the second half of a game will no longer require the offending player to sit out the first half of his team's next game, offensive pass interference will become a 10-yard penalty and the little-used fair catch kick will be introduced to college football. Those are among the changes for the 2026 season, the National Football Foundation announced Tuesday in its annual summary of rules changes. The targeting penalty change will be an experimental rule for 2026. A player disqualified for targeting for the first time in the season may participate in the following game. The trial rule will apply regardless of which half the targeting pe…

Royal shouts out his OL on the post, but I can't help but notice Brother Martin is giving him handoffs. Curious to see how he'll do on Friday nights. I think Royal has a lot of gadget ability and could get some carries out of the backfield in college as well

From an ESPN article on NCAA rule changes: https://www.espn.com/college-football/story/_/id/49584440/college-football-changes-include-tweaks-targeting-opi-rules ["In a change to align Division I rules with those in the NFL and high school, a team could choose to attempt a fair catch kick after a completed or awarded fair catch. The kick would be a place kick with a holder or a drop kick from the spot where the returner caught the ball. The defense would be at least 10 yards from the spot of the kick. If the ensuing kick goes through the uprights, it would be worth three points. The rarely used play last came up in the NFL in 2024 when the Los Angeles Charge…

I remember back in the day standing right next to this guy in his full uniform. Lavell Pinkney was a freak. Not including linemen I have never seen a Skill position player with his physique, especially his lower half. He was all butt and thighs. I remember thinking this guys hind quarters look like a thoroughbred horse. Dude could move too.

The week two Ohio State–Texas visitors list will continue to grow as the month of August continues, and Tuesday saw another massive visitor added. 2028 Lanier (Jackson, MS) DL Geraci Carson will be heading to Austin for the Ohio State game. Carson was last on campus May 31st for the Longhorns Elite Camp where he was one of the last prospects on campus to depart. Texas is very high on the 6-foot-4.5-inch, 330-pound defensive lineman. LSU and Ole Miss are two others to keep an eye on in this recruitment. ESPN has Carson ranked as the No. 2 player in the country, and it would not surprise me to see a sub-50 national ranking across the industry composite when …

We’re 25 days away, and No. 25 has two of the best running backs to ever come through Texas... plus one of the more memorable single-game performances in recent Longhorn history. Chris Gilbert was an absolute monster in the late 1960s. He finished with 3,231 career rushing yards and 28 touchdowns, became the first player in college football history to rush for 1,000 yards in three straight seasons, earned Consensus All-America honors in 1968 and was a three-time All-SWC selection. He’s also a member of the College Football Hall of Fame. Jamaal Charles finished his Texas career with 3,328 rushing yards and 36 rushing touchdowns. He was a three-time All-Big 12 sel…

New feature to DKR that I hinted at last week. A major video board was added to the outside of the southwest corner of DKR. I would assume this will add some flair to the Bevo Blvd pregame.
