The 1929 Longhorns finished 5-2-2, but that record doesn’t begin to tell the story. For the first half of the season, Texas was virtually untouchable. The Longhorns opened the year with five consecutive shutout victories over St. Edward’s, Centenary, Arkansas, Oklahoma and Rice. From a completely nonpartisan perspective (as he attacks and boosts folks from all parties), is OTF comfortable continuing to have Adam Loewy, who has become one of the most politically charged commentators on the internet, as a core sponsor? I mean this with no disrespect to OTF at all, but given the site’s commitment to avoiding politics this seems antithetical to that notion.

On behalf of the OTF staff, I hope everyone has a safe, happy and healthy Memorial Day. After the grind that is college baseball’s regular season, including 29 SEC games, Texas will learn its road to Omaha in just over an hour. The show has been moved from ESPN2 to ESPN. The Longhorns were announced last night as one of 16 regional hosts. We’ll find out if Texas (40-13, 19-10 SEC) made the cut for a top-8 national seed when the field of 64 is unveiled. I’ll be live on the OTF YouTube channel with @Blake Munroe and @CJ Vogel for the selection show.

Gainesville, Ga. – For the eighth year in a row, No. 3 Texas Rowing advanced all three boats to the NCAA Championships 'A' Finals after completing both the opening round and semifinals on Friday at Lake Lanier in Gainesville, Ga. Due to forecasted inclement weather on Saturday, the semifinals had been moved to Friday afternoon. They don't talk about why teams are playing zone or man or different Defense schemes, right. They don't talk about scripps to start the game. What is working on Offense, why are they play hurry up to start 2nd half or what are they wanting to slow the game down and limit series. If they have interviews with Coaches and players pre-game. What did they say, what questions did they ask and what did they sense from the answers? They are controlled by the networks I get it. But cut loose a bit what is going on behind the scenes?

Today, that means the 1927 Texas Longhorns. The 1927 team finished 6-2-1 in Clyde Littlefield’s first season as head coach. @Blake Munroe hinted at this initially during our livestream in conjunction with the selection show on Monday. We knew Dylan Volantis wouldn’t start against Holy Cross. The only question was whether Schloss and Max Weiner would go with Harrison or make it a bullpen game. Chris Del Conte and Steve Sarkisian have been in lockstep regarding Texas’ non-conference football schedule. The Longhorns will honor their home-and-home agreements with Ohio State and Michigan, with the Buckeyes coming to Royal-Texas Memorial Stadium on Sept. 12 and the Wolverines heading to town on Sept. 11, 2027. Beyond those two return bouts from marquee non-conference games played during the 2024 (a resounding 31-12 victory over the reigning national champions at the Big House) and 2025 (a 14-7 loss in the Horseshoe) seasons, nothing is set in stone. ...and why should he? There is an interview where he talked about his excitement coaching the new recruits. Evidently, Aaliyah Crump and Jordan Lee were being recruited all year. Justice Carlton was basically not a good fit and had no choice but to transfer. Coach said he hates losing players but understands the environment. He said he always coaches hard. And that is all he knows. Time to focus on the new team.
