A place where fellow Longhorns can discuss Texas Football, Sports and Recruiting with one another and the staff of On Texas Football.

  1. Since I know Class rankings overall matters to a lot of people, I decided to take a look at the 2024 class and compare it to the potential of this class. The 2024 class in terms of strictly high school recruiting, finished with 22 recruits and a 247 grade of 286.90. Below I'll list players that seem to be eventual Texas commits and will be adding it to the calculator. Smith Orogbo, EDGE, Alief (Texas) Hastings Nick Townsend, TE, Dekaney (Texas) High Kade Phillips, DB, Missouri City (Texas) Hightower D.J. Sanders, DL, Bellville (Texas) High Michael Terry II, ATH, San Antonio (Texas) Alamo Heights Dakorien Moore, WR, Duncanville (Texa…

  4. There were some questions regarding the commitment of 2025 Ruston (LA) cornerback Aidan Anding being delayed. Well here might be your reason for that. Anding was offered by LSU Friday evening.

  9. More staff additions for the Longhorns, as Schlossnsgle and Co. have hired Chuck Box as the Director of Program Development. Box served in this same role at Texas A&M for the past three seasons. Prior to that, he was the Head Baseball Coach at Hartfield Academy in Jackson, Miss.

  10. How much trouble is Texas in? Defensive recruiting has had quite a few whiffs recently. D Line CB and trending that way for LBs..... Why is there so little momentum on this side of the ball? Is it an NIL issue coaching or something else? I know the standard recruit thru the whistle but these losses are starting to add up quickly which means the Horns are playing from behind. Hope they get it figured out

  11. Been sitting on this for a few days now, but I can finally announce that Drew Bishop is returning to Texas baseball. He originally played for the Longhorns under then head coach Augie Garrido, before transitioning to the “Director of Baseball Ops” role for 13 years. Bishop then served as the Director of Scouting for Five Tool since 2021. “Really excited to be back home and get to work with the new staff and on the road to Omaha,” Bishop told On Texas Football. He will return to his old role with the Longhorns.

  12. On Texas Football is expecting a couple of shakeups to the Texas staff beginning today. Texas A&M is set to hire new Texas assistant coach Michael Earley as their head coach. Earley spent the last three years in College Station on Jim Schlossnagle's staff. We expect that hire to be made public soon. The fact is Texas A&M Athletic Director Trev Alberts set his sights on Earley after failing to lock in a couple of other candidates. It's somewhat of a risky hire for the Aggies, as Earley has no head coaching experience and only eight years of coaching experience total. I've been told the big money at Texas A&M was expecting a much bigger name when it came t…

  14. This morning y’all spoke on the lack of depth at a run stopping DT and lack of true MLB talent in the state is often brought up. This is clearly because of the extreme spread offense that many HS’s run in the state, but I think this might be a problem that will slowly start to clear itself up after watching the success of PNG and SOC’s offenses which were much more power based than we’ve become accustomed to. I believe teams trying to stop this resurgence will produce more traditional DT’s and MLB’s soon.

  15. I know UT has taken some unexpected body blows these last few days. How many of those were apart of your HIs? I assume Sharma was one...anyone else? thanks!

  17. I can’t get into specifics just yet, but expect a big time announcement from Texas in the coming days as they continue to fill the staff under new HC Jim Schlossnagle. This will be an off the field role, but a major one, and one that will make Longhorn fans very happy. As soon as we are allowed to release it, we will. But I’m beyond thrilled with this hire.

  18. Sark & staff have proven they will not stop pursuing their top targets on their board. Although the last few days make me want to worry, I believe they will continue to be relentless until the end, and it wouldn’t surprise me to have them flip some committed recruits down the home stretch. Just my thoughts when we’re on the wrong side of Sharma, Charles, and Brew. 🤘

  19. On Saturday afternoon, the Longhorns picked up a commitment from LSU transfer Aiden Moffett. The right handed pitcher’s playing time was sparse for the Tigers, as he appeared in 16 games this past season, posting a 5.60 ERA through 17.2 innings of play and striking out 21 batters in the process. 9:35 PM Update: I spoke with Aiden 2-3 days ago and he told me there was a lot of mutual interest. I just didn’t think it would move this quickly. I also spoke with a couple of sources that have knowledge of the situation. Here’s what I can tell you. Texas isn’t concerned about his numbers at LSU. At all. One thing you will soon learn is that Max Weiner k…

  21. While most of these simulations are fun to watch I don’t think that they are overly realistic in terms of time management or play calling. With that being said, watch and enjoy.

  22. On Friday evening, the Longhorns picked up their second commitment of the 2025 class under new Head Coach Jim Schlossnagle. Jack Paris, a one time Texas A&M commit out of Houston Kincaid, has decided to switch his commitment from the Aggies to the Longhorns. Paris can play first base and is a stud on the mound, although it’s currently unknown where Texas plans to use him. The 6-foot-3, 200-pound right hander had a 90 mph fastball last summer.

Looks like we’re gonna lose out on Aidan Anding as well… they gotta figure it out quickly on defense cause we’re losing so many recruiting battles on that side. I get the whole “doesn’t matter til they sign” thing, but losing THIS many head to head battles is not good at all.
