With the angst over recruiting, it's seemingly lost on some people that we have a pretty good football team, and that is more important than anything else. I wanted to take a look at our depth chart and areas of strength / weaknesses.. in particular what would happen if we were to somehow lose a player to injury. For this, I'll use a 1-10 scale with 10 being best, considering starter quality and amount of drop off with the backups. QB - 9. Though I can't think of another QB room in the country that has a better 1-2 punch, we would miss Quinn's experience if Arch had to step in. Ironically I just watched the movie Air about the Nike pursuit of Michael Jordan a week ago. What I found interesting was Nike’s willingness to think outside of the box. Pun partially intended. Seeing the Nike rep interacting with Phil Knight and then Knights willingness to risk protocol for the chance of a breakthrough deal has me wondering the methodology of Oregons approach. The portrayal of Jordan’s agents involvement was also revealing. Is it Oregon or is it the agent who’s the spin master? Starting with the defensive side of the ball and now loosing out on DK Moore....Texas recruiting is a dumpster fire over the past couple of weeks...The whole recruiting thru the whistle means you are recruiting from behind and I believe the chickens are coming home to roost for this slow slow slow pace Texas has chosen to take. They need to get it fixed or they are in serious trouble.

A source indicated to me after the official visits that a name to keep an eye as the season and cycle progressed would be Lovejoy's Daylan McCutcheon. Texas of course just lost on the sweepstakes of five-star Dakorien Moore and while there will be another shot later in December for his signature, the Longhorns must now pivot on the WR front. As bad as this week has been, I have to ask this question. Is Joe Biden been recruiting for Texas this week? After watching the debate it sure feels like it! Did Texas get cocky, or did they just figure we're Texas and they will come? The pitch for DM should have been, "you have the chance to leave Texas as the best receiver of all time. Two championship, and the 1st WR taken off the board in the NFL draft." Two years with the best QB in the country where you will put up video game numbers. Blaze that trail.
