Reporting live from Hattricks in Tampa, preparing for SEC Media Days this week. Wanted to share this nugget which builds off of @Bobby Burton report from last week. The topic of who was the fastest player on the Texas offense for the upcoming season was brought up. I was expecting a drawn out thought process given some of the options available. But the response came relatively quickly. The answer? Freshman WR Kohen Brown.

After plodding their way to season-low marks for total yards (179), yards per play (3.3) and first downs (eight) in a 16-13 overtime road win over Kentucky, the Longhorns fielded one of the least productive offenses in the SEC. 2026 SEC Preseason Rankings *** The SEC preseason poll will release at some point next week during the tail end of SEC Media Days in Tampa. As a result, I wanted to get a start on the conversation with the ballot I plan on submitting. — Texas and Georgia are the two leaders for me. Taking a Look at Hollywood Smothers' Fit in the Texas Offense *** Earlier in the week, we took a look at Raleek Brown's fit in the Texas offense. Today, it is Hollywood Smothers' turn. Smothers was a 1st Team All-ACC honoree at NC State. In 2025, Smothers ran for 939 yards and six touchdowns on 160 rush attempts. Out of the backfield, Smothers also hauled in 37 receptions for 189 yards and a touchdown. Easton Royal and Monshun Sales' recruiting and their track times got me thinking about the NFL combine's 40 and the Longhorns on the list. Having Sales and Royal head to their future combine as Longhorns could potentially add two more names to the list. Texas currently has the most players in the top 25 at 3 (Worthy, Goodwin, Golden). 4 have worn a Texas jersey in their college career.
