On Texas Football Forum

A place where fellow Longhorns can discuss Texas Football, Sports and Recruiting with one another and the staff of On Texas Football.

  1. Devin Askew ... NCAA sports record holder One time Texas guard Devin Askew may hold a weird NCAA record. He's now at Villanova, if you care or have lost track. That's now five schools in six years - Kentucky, Texas, Cal, Long Beach State and Villanova I have him having played in 29 states plus Washington, D.C. after the conclusion of the 2025-26 season. That has to be a weird record. Mississippi Tennessee Missouri Alabama Georgia Florida Kentucky Indiana Texas Washington New Jersey Nevada Kansas Iowa Oklahoma West Virginia Wisconsin Arizona Cali…

  4. 2027 DB on the Radar + Recap from 2027 DL *** A new in-state safety prospect has emerged on the radar for the Longhorns in the class of 2027. 6-foot-4-inch Whitehouse (TX) defensive back Malachi Allen visited the Longhorns on Saturday for the Vanderbilt game and should be considered a name to watch moving forward. Allen told me following his visit that he is being recruited at the STAR position, or as a hybrid safety/linebacker. The plan now is for a Texas coach to stop by on Thursday according to Allen – most likely being Keynodo Hudson, who Allen spent time with in the facility during the postgame. On Monday, Florida State became the first to o…

  6. 3 Stars of the Game vs. Vanderbilt *** The players of the game in the 34–31 victory over Vanderbilt. Star No. 1 – Colin Simmons A fantastic showing from Colin Simmons on Saturday. Starting the day off with a strip sack fumble and recovery which led to immediate points on the other side. Simmons produced seven pressures on the day and lived behind the line of scrimmage. Star performance from Simmons. Star No. 2 – Arch Manning A lot of quick, easy throws to begin the game for Manning, but he settled into his own rather nicely. A second consecutive game over 300 passing yards and three touchdowns, all of which coming in the f…

Well injuries aren’t fun as we could tell in that fourth quarter, but I can’t believe that the talent the secondary has could give up that much yards on Vandys final two drives without having prevent being called the whole time. I understand it’s a no brainer to play prevent when the other team is in desperation mode, but in my opinion if i’m PK at some point you have to call something else that isn’t going to give up 15-20 yards every throw down the seam. So in my opinion i’m not too worried about this secondary going forward. These next two weeks will be much needed resting time for this team. On to Athens we go with a much healthier team God willing. Hook’Em and happy …

  10. 4-star LSU OT commit OV to Texas OTF believes that 4-star LSU offensive tackle Brysten Martinez (Gonzales, La./East Ascension) is likely to make an OV to Texas November 22-23 for the Arkansas game. The 6-6, 305-pounder made a two day OV to Texas over the weekend.

For those that track these kinds of things… when will we know the kickoff time and what are the chances it ends up a night game? I know it’s a flex game, but hoping for an evening kickoff

  17. Texas head coach Steve Sarkisian is speaking with the media following the Longhorns' 34–31 victory over Vanderbilt. The game was tight down the stretch, but ultimately it was a big resume boosting win and the best offensive performance of the season. Texas now has a bye week coming up, but before hear from the Texas head coach. View full news story

  19. First rankings of the CFP poll come out Tuesday, from here on out these are the only rankings that matter. Where do yall see Texas ? I’m thinking anywhere from 13-18. The more dominant Ohio st looks, the less I think that loss is gonna be held against Texas. Question is gonna be how does the committee view the Florida loss? They played Georgia close today, but your record is your record. Texas is tied for 3rd in the SEC also.

Today was both fun and emotional. I’m 47 years old. Today was my 115th home game in a row. Yet I pale in comparison to Scott Wilson’s streak home and away. Sadly his home streak officially ended today. Since before I was born he’s been to every home game. He was there today but watching from above with DKR. I know Scott but not at a friend level. I knew him enough he’d recognize me and say hello but we didn’t know each other that well. The pregame tribute was beautiful and I unashamedly teared up. Scott was a hero of mine and the fan I aspire to be. We honored him at our tailgate with a talk from @MBHORNSFAN Tears were shed then. As I age I get more sen…

One thing that jumped out at me that makes total sense which I've not seen discussed yet: Our RB's chipped well on their blitzing defenders to give Arch ample time to get past 1st and many times 2nd reads. Having Baxter fully back to add depth to that spot was instrumental. https://youtu.be/OIzSev3fbCk?si=uAcCUkrNd5NNsdlp

  22. View from the Cheap Seats-Vandy comes to town Reverse Starkville It was a yard from reverse Déjà vu all over again. After scoring 21 in the 4th in Starkville to force overtime, the Horns come home, put on their best performance of the year for 3 quarters before giving up 21 unanswered to make things WAAAAY too interesting in the 4th quarter. Vandy executes a perfect onside kick with time running out, but cannot corral the ball, and it rolled harmlessly out of bounds to seal the win with 33 ticks left on the clock. As Sark would say, “We like to keep it interesting”. The Cheap Seats doesn’t like interesting, especially when the 4th quarter…

Did UT get a new DB coach? I think it has exposed the secondary to free releases off the line of scrimmage.
